Hello, I'm in the process of assembling a TARVA daybed to replace a Queen futon that barely lasted 2 years (thanks, Overstock!). I'm really impressed with the design and construction, and this will serve our needs in our Guest/Teen video game room.
That being said, we haven't gotten the mattresses for it yet because we thought the twin mattresses at the store were too expensive for what they were (thin foam) and we can get two 6.75" twin spring mattresses from Sam's for less. Has anyone here gone down this road and not used IKEA mattresses for their TARVA's? How does the bed feel with two stacked on top of each other? My one concern is if these were stacked, we'd be looking at almost 14" thickness, and could damage the bed or be too bouncy.
I'm planning to upgrade from a full-size bed to a queen. The only issue is my bedroom is not that large and even just a few inches can help so that one side isn't right up against the wall. The two I'm considering are the Tarva frame and the Malm, which is slightly wider. However, even though the Tarva is solid wood, I kind of prefer the look of the Malm because of the solid headboard.
I am considering the option of getting the Tarva and trying to DIY a solid headboard, by just adding a board, but I haven't seen any examples of this.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? Have you seen a good DIY for the Tarva? I have seen people add rattan or weaving, but I'm really looking for a solid headboard look. Thanks
