I have an ikea area rug, I think it is 5 x 7 feet, the pile is about an inch long and its gray. It stinks and I don’t want to go rent a carpet shampoo machine for a small carpet. I’m not sure the exact name of the carpet as I took off all of the labels on it. I live 2 hours away from ikea and I really don’t really wanna buy a new one when I could try to wash this one first

This might be extreme, but I once took a rug to the car wash. I pretreated it, then hung it from those clips made to hang car mats on. Then I sprayed the hell out of it. Took it home and laid it in the sun to dry for a few days.

It would probably be cheaper to just get a new rug. You could try gently spraying it down with something natural like baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and letting it hang/air dry.
