Just keep in mind that the OS that came out this year, macOS 26 Tahoe, will be the last macOS that iMac will ever get. Starting with the next OS next year Apple will only develop for ARM. New iMac 2021 vs 27" 2020 iMac?
The new M1 chip is significantly more powerful than the one you have. You can’t upgrade a damn thing, we should expect that from now on these are integrated chips. The new iMac would be absolutely awesome for your relatively light media use. If you get some google and check out benchmark scores and pit your MacBook Pro 13 inch which sounds like a dual core processor against the M1, you will see it is literally much much much more powerful.
