What are some indoor plants that are beginner friendly?
Pothos is really hard to kill. It will live for ages just in a glass of water. I have a small piece that I had left over from one of my kids rooms, just basically a leaf with 2 inches of stem. I stuck it in one of my fishtanks and a month later cut it in two because it had grown so many new leaves and roots. It is now two pothos plants in two different fishtanks. Love it. Snake plants are easy if you don't overly water them. They do better with a little neglect and a moderate amount of light. North windows are good. Ficus has always been a hard one for me to find the right balance-- I get it to grow in a spot and then suddenly all the leaves drop and it croaks. I dunno. Ferns are often picky. I would also suggest aloe vera, another one that likes it on the dry side and fairly bright. Useful and attractive but not too sharp to deal with unlike most cacti. More on reddit.com

Need names of these plants and if they can be used indoors. Please help
Day lily (possibly), 2. Dianthus, 3. Pansy. Unsure of the others. The dianthus is an alpine so adapted for exposure, might not do too well indoors. Don't know about the others- they're usually grown outdoors but day lilies are often grown in greenhouses which is basically indoors, so that one should be fine. More on reddit.com

February 21, 2025 - Simple yet stately, the snake plant is a hardy indoor plant that tolerates low light conditions and prefers infrequent watering. Place it in a dim corner where no other plant will survive, and it will stand there, upright and happy as ever (though a bright location will bring out its true colors). Thanks to its pointed, tongue-shaped foliage, this plant also commonly goes by the name Mother-in-Law’s Tongue.

r/houseplants on Reddit: What are some indoor plants that are beginner friendly?
April 19, 2022 -
Hi, I'm new to this and I hope this simple question is okay. I'm looking for suggestions from an actual community as to which indoor plants to get as the plants help with cooling the air, and because I want to start an indoor mini garden first, before having an outdoor plant family.
I've seen and read about some plants, but your thoughts are would be very helpful.
Plant choices:
Snake Plant (EDIT: Apparently really the best choice. Thanks guys!)
Golden Pothos
Rubber Plant (Ficus Elastica)
Aloe Vera
Fern (EDIT: Not beginner friendly)
Palm Tree (Areca?)
Weeping Fig (Ficus Benjamina)
Thank you so much.

Weeping figs and fern’s aren’t generally beginner-friendly. A weeping fig will throw all it’s leaves off in a fit of pique just because you left a window open. It will then keep living whilst looking like a plucked turkey for the next four years, shaming your plant skills to anyone who visits. Ferns will die if they dry out, so you best not go on holiday, or even out to work for longer than about 7 hours. The easiest house plants are the ones that were popular in the 70s. Spider plants, monstera, rubber plants, snake plants etc. Stick to non variegated at first as they are less picky (and not so expensive so you won’t cry so hard if you kill them).
