It just wasn’t smart with money is all. You could’ve jumped to AM5 and got better performance for the price you paid for that 11900K, which is now awkwardly paired with a 3060 anyways 🥴 Shoulda just got a GPU.. If you paid MSRP, you could’ve gotten a B650, 7800x3d, and 32 gb of Ram for $480 for instance. Answer from Dchella on reddit.com

Question - i9-11900k or 11900kf | AnandTech Forums: Technology, Hardware, Software, and Deals
I have an "old" 11th gen intel system with an i5-11600K cpu. I've been happy with it, but I have some tasks that could use a little more cpu so I'm considering maxing out the cpu on this system (don't want to upgrade everything at this time). So the question then becomes do I get the i9-11900K or ... More on forums.anandtech.com
Is the I9 11900k really that bad?
I'm currently running an AMD 1600x, its been a fantastic CPU but I just got an offer for a new 11900k for $275 and considering it was at one time a "flagship" CPU its tempting me. My questions are: I have a RTX 2080ti and a 650 watt platinum Seasonic PSU, would I need more juice with the I9... More on forums.tomshardware.com
Is the Intel Core i9-11900K @ 3.50GHz good for gaming?
This is a fairly old CPU that is no longer competitive with newer CPUs. But this CPU contains 8 Cores and 16 Threads. The Intel Core i9-11900K @ 3.50GHz also has reasonable threaded performance that will serve well in games. Paired with a good videocard, is this CPU Good for Gaming? Yes, this would be a suitable CPU for gaming.

Will this item be available for pre-sale?
This site has, in the past, showed options which are not currently available but a glitch.. So you may see orange option boxes which may not be actually active and you just get sent to the out of stock page.
As far as I have heard, there will be an Embargo until the 30th but I am hoping a preorder may come sooner. When the 10th gen was released, the i7s were available before the i9s.

Is Newegg ever going to do something about the scalpers that use bots to buy? Like this CPU? Or all the 3080 and 3090 GPU's? Regular buyers have no chance.
Apparently what they did about it is to more than double the price so that no one, even scalpers, will buy it?

r/buildapc on Reddit: People are making me feel horrible about my i9 11900k purchase
December 10, 2023 -
I upgraded my PC this summer from an i5-10400F to an i9-11900K, and now I'm realizing that some people are saying it's horrible and trash, and you're better off with anything else. Why is that, though? I currently have a 3060, but I'm getting a 4070 Ti this week. Other than that, I want to know why it's getting so much hate. Did I make a horrible purchase? I'm just 16 years old, and all of this is based on my savings and birthday gifts.

Its not a bad CPU, its still quite capable. Very similar to something like a Ryzen 7 5800X in performance, which is still half decent. But the problem is that it was and still is ridiculously overpriced for the amount of performance you'd get from it. The CPU alone generally goes for a similar price as a considerably faster & better new CPU and motherboard combined.

It never really was worth buying, to be honest. It was worse than a 10900k, in overall performance. Cheapest 11900k, that I see on Ebay is still $300. You could get a 12700k, for $259 on newegg right now, and it would run circles around it. Even at the $304, on amazon, it's a far better buy.

The 11900K wasn't even worth buying when it released.
As already said, it's basically a 11700K that can clock 200-300 MHz higher and pulls 15W more. Which isn't much at the clocks both boost to anyway.
As GamersNexus put it "it's a waste of sand"
The same 8 core/16 thread chip as it's i7 counterpart. The 10900K had hat least more cores, as does the 12900K.
And since both, the 11700K and 11900K are overclockable, you could do that yourself.
It's a curiosity. A chip made so that they could claim to have the fastest CPU for a moment.
If you already have a LGA1200 board and want to max it out, rather look at the 10900K or 11700K, both have different strengths, but will be a better choice.
If you just want to put together a fast computer from used parts, the same applies but Core i 13th gen and AMD also exist. Stuff like the i5-13600K, i7-13700K, i9-13900K, Ryzen 5800X3D, 5950X, etc.

Die-hard gamers and Intel loyalists can safely opt for the "Rocket Lake" Core i9-11900K, Intel's mainstream 11th Generation flagship desktop CPU. But a regression in core count and only modest performance upside add luster to AMD Ryzen 5000 and Intel 10th Gen alternatives.

Is the 11900k really as bad as reviewers say? I also see large performance shifts between reviews. | Overclock.net
July 16, 2021 - I am curious to know if the 11900k is worth buying? There are a lot of reviewers bashing it but I see a large inconsistency between review results. Some show it losing to the 5900x in games where others show it beating it on similar hardware. Moreover, it does seem to have the highest possible single core IPC in a consumer CPU right now. That has to amount to something. ... If you are deciding on intel I would go for the 10900k over the 11 for multicore Ryzen Zen 3 If deciding for Gaming between Intel VS Ryzen, depends on what resolution you are playing at For 4K which is what I use, 5600x or 5800x Would be my Choice Currently on a 5800x even a 3600x is a good pick at 4K.

Question - i9-11900k or 11900kf | AnandTech Forums: Technology, Hardware, Software, and Deals
September 9, 2024 - Previous discussions (years ago) seemed to indicate that the disabled GPU KF could give slightly lower power consumption and better thermals, which could translate to better reliability, stability, possibly better overclocking. But looking at actual performance benchmark databases, it looks like the 11900K cpus are consistently performing just a bit better than the 11900KF.

Question - Is the I9 11900k really that bad? | Tom's Hardware Forum
September 29, 2022 - The 11900K (at least prior to the new releases) was still among the top 20 fastest CPU on the market. It is essentially a binned i7 that will for sure hit over 5GHz. It has options to unlock power draw and so forth that IMO have not been worth the added heat production in my use case.
