What i see is big ipc gain with the 11900k however gaming performance is confusing. In some reviews 11900k gaming performance is very very bad. In some reviews 11900k gaming performance worse than predecessor and AMD. In some reviews they are toe to toe. Which reviews are accurate. 11900k with it's huge ipc uplift worse than say 9900k/ks in gaming ?

Yes, it is worse than any of the current amd 5000 series cpu's at gaming and it is also worse than the 10900k in most games and almost every production workload, there are even cases when the 10700k will beat the 11900k. Main reason for this is the intel cpu 11th gen as a whole have worse ipc than the current amd cpu's and less cores while at the same time having less cores than the previous gen intel cpu's

Intel Core i9-11900K Review: Not a Great Flagship CPU | TechSpot
Intel Core i9-11900K
Serious Sam 4 is another example where the 11900K ends up being a step backwards for Intel as it loses out to the older 10900K by a 9% margin. Worse than that is the 18% loss it suffered to the 5900X. The Core i9-10900K was a bit of a beast in Rainbow Six Siege and while you can certainly argue the relevance to 538 fps, it remains the fastest CPU in this game... Usually it's the flagship CPU grabbing the headlines, but frankly, the Core i9-11900K at a list price of $540, simply doesn't stand a chance. But because you'll want to know where it stands, here we are.

Intel Core i9-11900K review: taking the fight to AMD's Ryzen 9 5900X | Rock Paper Shotgun
March 30, 2021 - As I said earlier, if it's a pure gaming CPU you're after, then you'll be much better off going for the cheaper Core i5-11600K or Ryzen 5 5600X, as I just don't think that the Core i9-11900K really adds that much to your typical gaming PC. If you use your PC for more than games, then the 11900K is certainly worth considering if a year of working from home has left you feeling in need of an immediate upgrade, but if you can hang on for another six to nine months, I'd strongly recommend doing so.

Why was hyperthreading disabled - As mentioned previously, the games benchmarked have been tested with hyperthreading enabled and performance was the same (within margin of error) or better on both CPUs with hyperthreading disabled. The only exception to this was AC Origins on the 11900K, which was tested with hyperthreading enabled too.

July 16, 2021 - I am curious to know if the 11900k is worth buying? There are a lot of reviewers bashing it but I see a large inconsistency between review results. Some show it losing to the 5900x in games where others show it beating it on similar hardware. Moreover, it does seem to have the highest possible single core IPC in a consumer CPU right now. That has to amount to something. ... If you are deciding on intel I would go for the 10900k over the 11 for multicore Ryzen Zen 3 If deciding for Gaming between Intel VS Ryzen, depends on what resolution you are playing at For 4K which is what I use, 5600x or 5800x Would be my Choice Currently on a 5800x even a 3600x is a good pick at 4K.

11900K is slightly ahead in terms of single core performance, but most applications are multithreaded. If you do anything related video editing, rendering, 10900K is the way to go. A good 10900K can also overclock much easier than 11900K, pushing 5.3Ghz all core. Personally I think 10900K is a better work/play chip than 11900K. If you play games only, just get 10700K and save the money.

It depends on the game you play. They pretty much trade blows with some games 10900K being better and with same games 11900K being better. That is not really a very impressive thing as 11900K is a lot more expensive at the moment. Here are some benchmarks between them https://www.techspot.com/review/2222-intel-core-i9-11900k/ The gaming benchmarks are at the end. Anyhow then there is the OC potential between these two CPUs: you can get higher RAM speeds with the 11900k and better latencies with the 10900K. Different games react differently to those things. ^^ All of that is why you will NOT get a clear cut answer that X is better than Y for gaming. Anyhow for me, my position would be that with the price difference between them there should be a clear performance difference also for me to justify spending more money on one or the other.

The Intel Core i9-11900K is one of the most powerful gaming processors in the world, but does it represent good value compared to AMD? The Intel Core i9-11900K is the flagship desktop processor in Team Blue’s new Rocket Lake-S range, offering turbo clock speeds up to 5.3GHz to make it one of the most powerful chips for gaming in the world.
Intel claims the new Rocket Lake processors see up to 19% IPC (instructions per cycle) improvements when compared to the previous generation, which should essentially boost the overall performance power and make the chip more efficient.
