I was originally going to go with the Intel CPU but I've found an amazing deal on a Ryzen 7 9700X. Since I have no idea which CPU benchmark sites to trust, what do you guys think? Would I sacrifice anything by taking the bargain?

There's no way I would buy 13th or 14th gen without an absurd discount. But you're also comparing a very high core count chip with an 8 core chip. And also, these are completely different platforms. I assume you don't have a motherboard yet?

While the 14700k does sometimes perform better, has more cores, the 9700X would be better in certain aspects since it still does perform nearly the same or even better than the 14700k in gaming , you can upgrade in the future without having to change the motherboard, unlike the LGA 1700 (14700k), and it's less risky because of the Intel 13th and 14th gen past issues

I am buying a prebuilt pc but the site allows me to upgrade and/or change parts. The hardest choice is by far the cpu. I've researched online but I couldn't find anything to help me make the choice. I need this pc for Gaming but also working (editing clips in Adobe, coding in Unity, etc). Plus I want to buy something that'll last me at least a few years because it is a big investment for me.
Also, if win 11 would affect either of them, I heard some rumours about Amd having difficulties w it. I could also install win10 if needed.
It would help a lot an advice on the topic, thanks!

I know nothing about amd but can tell you about intel. I have got 13700f. Upgraded from 12400f. I can’t say that felt wow effect but definitely noticed uplift performance in the games. If you play at 2k you can even put core ultra 7. Great cpu in editing and coding. Otherwise go with 14700 but take care of good cooling system and install latest bios
