My Asus H110M-A Socket LGA1151 VGA DVI HDMI just won't fit into its IO shield. I don't know if I am doing something wrong??

The metal tabs just prevent me from sliding the mobo into the io shield properly and I don't want to break anything.

Spent at least 2 hours trying to get it to fit, still not working.

I know Im 5 years late, But i struggled with this for hours, after a while i realized one of the corners of the io wasnt pushed in hard enough on one corner, You have to push it in till you see the bumps on the outer side of the case show, sometimes it takes some force, I really hope this helped someboody

Hello. I'm in the middle of my first ever build and ran into a strange issue. The case (Montech AIR 903 Base) has the correct stands for the motherboard (MSI b650 tomahawk wifi), but I'm not able to fit the motherboard's holes on top of them. The issue seems to be the board's integrated IO shield. The holes all seem they would fit if I could move it further left, but the opening the case seems to have for it is too small for me to get it through. It also seems too stiff to force in.

EDIT: So either I'm stupid (possibility), or this shit's impossible to fit. I removed the IO shield with a screwdriver to see if it would work. Images:

Piece of metal that normally holds the IO shield to the board, stuck and unable to go further left (right from previous perspective). It's meant to be on that hole right next to it. It should be able to go deeper into the case, but it will not go left.

Holding the opposite of the I/O side of the motherboard at an angle and slide it in, you may need to use a higher force to push the I/O shield into the case.

It will fit. The back of the IO shield is made of a sort of foam material, so you just need to apply some gentle pressure to squish it to get the first couple of screws lined up.

it is installed from the inside. push from inside toward outside. all four corners should click having said that, this is a problem when you have either a cheap computer case (most likely) or a cheap mobo. also don't force it. Once the io shield (cheap mobo especially) bends, you are shit out of luck. worst case scenario don't install mobo with it. It's not the end of the world with a PC with no io shield. just be more careful of dusts in the room.

You can skip the IO shield; you won't miss it and it eliminates one of the top 5 annoying steps when doing a PC build. If you really really want it, you might consider buying a mobo that has an integrated one, which also speeds the install.

Could i just remove the plush part? You shouldn't, but you can. It'll fit, it's meant to be that way, you just have to wiggle it carefully. It's best to leave it the way it's intended, as it's possible to short the motherboard if you get something conductive where it shouldn't be

Make sure that there isn't a metal tab on the I/O shield interfering with seating the mobo. All Asus boards I've owned have at least one. Otherwise, you just need to push the mobo into the I/O shield and get at least one screw into the mobo tray.

I currently am starting my first ever pc build, my case is the Corsair 3500x and my motherboard is the msi pro b650m-a WiFi.

I have tried everything to aline the io of the motherboard with the shield but for some reason it just doesn’t work. Does anyone have any tips 😭😭

You can see from the image the usb ports are blocked by the little metal arm thingys.

January 19, 2015 - Im pretty sure this came with the motherboard, and no it wasnt already in the case. It sounds like you might have the wrong panel. Some of them do come with extra holes that are half-cut that you might need to punch out to fit all the ports on your board.

I’ve been trying for an hour to get my motherboard in, finally got the io shield to fully snap in place but the motherboard still isn’t aligning with the standouts

I have never built a pc before and am putting back together a friend’s old pc after they upgraded. Using Asus p8p67 motherboard and an atx case from Amazon, if needed I think I can find the link to it again.

I’ve tried using some pressure and I can get some of the holes to align but never all of them, the holes closest to top refuse to align with the standouts the most

Got pics of what's not fitting? Sure you haven't got any of the fingers on the io shield that should be sitting on top of the connectors poking inside them instead?

The tolerances between cases and motherboards can sometimes end up such that the fit is very, very tight. But also non-integrated I/O shields are hell and I always pay the extra few bucks to get a motherboard with the shield integrated just to avoid them if I can. When installing the shield you have to first make sure you have it fully inserted into the hole. This can sometimes take some significant force. You want to look to see if the metal lip is pushed through all the way around. Then, there’s little metal fingers on the back of the shield that you need to make sure aren’t poking out into the motherboard too much, or covering the ports they’re around. Sometimes it can be useful to take some pliers and really bend this as flat to the shield as possible to get them out the way. They’re there to help with static discharge when plugging cables in. And after you’ve done all that sometimes you have to really, really push the motherboard over with an uncomfortable amount of force to get it to align with the standoffs. I’ve had to even slightly bend some cases to get things to align. The last thing you can do is just chuck the I/O shield in the trash and install the motherboard without it. It used to be important in the distant past for RF shielding, but isn‘t really doing anything these days.

Learning a lot on my first (and very arduous 😂😂) build.

I realized yesterday that the pre installed io shield is preventing my motherboard with lining up with my case. I opted for a new motherboard for other reasons, but for my next install, am I supposed to push the integrated IO shield in until it “snaps” into place like a regular IO shield ? Or is it just supposed to press against the chassis?

Also WHY DONT MOTHERBOARD MANUFACTURERS HAVE TUTORIALS FOR THE INSTALLATION INTO THE CASE?! Especially for specific models. Wouldn’t be too difficult.

The motherboard I’m getting is the Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX for AM5, if anyone has any experience with this board or boards like it please let me know how you went about the IO shield.

Any help is IMMENSELY appreciated ! :)

No, the I/O shield that comes as part of your motherboard and is not removeable does not snap into the case exactly the same as a separate I/O shield. Mostly, they simply sit in the opening, flush with the case,but they don't snap into place with a bit of force needed like normal motherboard I/O shields. If your motherboards built in/attached I/O shield doesn't line up, there's some other issue. Make sure you only have the stand offs installed that you need for your particular motherboard. Not all motherboards use all stand off positions. Make sure your case doesn't come with a "peg" style stand off that isn't lined up with a mount hole in your motherboard. And finally, check that there isn't something holding your motherboard up/out of position from the I/O shield lining up with the opening for it. Take your time, look, and look again. Trial fit, look, trial fit again. Computer parts are made to standardized dimensions so they all work together. There can be some variance, but its usually not so much that parts don't actually fit.

Mine doesn't. It just sits against it, there's no latching mechanism like with detached IO shields.

It looks like those tabs at the bottom of your pic are in the way. It's probably intended for non integrated IO shields. You may need to bend them flat, but see if someone else with an H200 knows more.

I was having the same issue my IO shield wouldn't fit but finally managed to get it. You have to apply way more force than what you see in tutorial videos. Start at either the top or bottom and try to push the left and right corners in, either one at a time or both at the same time. Make sure to push from the inside. My IO shield had little circles on the edges, you want to push hard enough so that you can see those from the outside which will lock the IO shield in place. You might also want to wear gloves since it is easy to cut yourself when installing the shield. Leaving this comment here for anyone else who is having the same issue.
