Is there an IPA chart for bird sounds?
As others have pointed out, IPA is necessarily for humans and doesn't equate with a syrinx. Every species is going to be different. If you're modelling after lyrebirds, then the world's your oyster for speech sounds; if you're modelling after say an ostritch, then you'll be very limited. I'd just start with researching all the sounds your birds can make, and not even specifically vocal sounds, too: I'm sure a bunch of physical sounds associated with different behaviours would be useful too. For example, I looked at chickadees a while ago (I think it was black-caps) and tried to onomatopoeically transcribe their 14ish calls as base words and apply lexical fields to each call/word and that would be my basis. This is to say that each call was somewhere between a phoneme, a morpheme, and a lexeme, which kinda screws with our understanding of how we analyse human language. I never got farther than that, but it might be an interesting place to start. More on reddit.com

I'm trying to learn IPA transcription but struggling with the different IPA chart systems for British and American English
I teach students whose first language is Vietnamese. In the Vietnamese language, the written representation of a word (it's spelling) can be interpreted almost 100% directly to the spoken representation (it's pronunciation). Once you figure out what dialect of Vietnamese is being spoken, there are almost no exceptions. This means that the basic concept that English words often don't sound like they are spelled is a new one to them. So, I sometimes teach one short lesson where I introduce the IPA chart as a "speaking alphabet". I drive home the point that you often cannot simply read the letters in a written English word and "sound out" the word. I think this sets them up to cope with all the crazy pronunciations and exceptions in English. BTW, I am American and sometimes my students specifically want to talk like an American. So, I start with an American IPA and sometimes I either introduce a British IPA or simply highlight a couple of the biggest differences. Then I never mention it again. More on reddit.com

That's incredibly incredible. Fascinating that a single person was able to pronounce all of it, especially all the trills. I have noticed a couple little mistakes tho. For example ɬ and ɮ are not pronounced correctly but rather closer to f and z. And there's no ɫ.
