Dropped the price probably because they're trying to get rid of stock. I've been debating whether to just get the 5th gen (64gb) or new air model, mostly because of the new features and storage size.
I plan to draw, occasionally make animations and take notes for school. Not sure if 64 gb is enough for that, but the difference in price for getting the new air vs the 5th gen (+Apple Pencil) is $739 vs $531
How is the 5th gen putting up with today and would it be more worth to buy it than the new air?

Yes it’s a great device! And if you don’t use iPad for big projects, and use it as an extension of your iPhone rather than your MacBook for content consumption 64 gb will be good for you, just don’t put all your photos/videos from ur iPhone on ur iPad. I have the air 5 and since getting it in 2022 I’ve began using it more than I thought I would (professionally) and got 64 gb so I’m upgrading to the new 13” pro, but my fiance does more than just fine with his 64gb

Hello, I'm just an average user who primarily uses an iPad for basic note-taking and content consumption. I don't really care about other features, what matters most to me is how long each device will receive software support. I know the iPad Air 5th gen has the M1 chip, while the other model has the A16. The M1 is obviously much more powerful, but how does its remaining software support compare to the A16? Since both are priced similarly, which one would be the better option? Thanks for your help!

We cannot know for certain which will get software support for longer. That's down to Apple But spec-wise, the M1 is a faster processor and has 8GB RAM compared to 6GB for the A16 So in theory it could get longer support. But it's not guaranteed.

The M1 iPad Air has a lot of advantages compared to standard. You can get it for around 300 now. It's still a great device.
