Really interesting. I forgot how expensive the iPad originally was; the iPad 2 was actually my first Apple device. The $329 era of the iPad is actually really interesting. Know the move down in price was in part to establish more in the education market, and consumers just benefitted from that. It's also interesting that the price actually was so stable for both periods. It feels like some of the cases of big price changes across Apple's products are a result of them holding things stable for so long that when they do finally do a price increase, it's a big one to catch up for increases that other people would have just built in. Would we really have been surprised if Apple increased the price $10-20 each model? Probably not. Is it notable that they did a $120 increase all at once? Yes. More on reddit.com

Apple announced the new iPad a few days ago and it came with a hefty price bump, and that got me wondering about the actual inflation-adjusted cost of the iPad over time.

This graph only looks at the "base model" iPads. For the sake of this, the iPad Air and iPad Air 2 will be considered "base", even though today the iPad Air is considered a separate line. At the time, the iPad Air was the successor to the 4th gen iPad. It wasn't until the iPad Air 3 (2019) was released alongside the 6th gen iPad that they started to really treat it as a separate line.

I have it and barely use it. It just doesn’t work like reminders. Persistent lock screen reminders would be really nice. Most important, it’s probably overkill for the little I need it for.
