The reason for this confusion is due to the fact that the 11" and 12.9" iPad Pro generation numbers are not in line. In 2021, Apple released the 3rd gen iPad Pro 11" and 5th gen iPad Pro 12.9", both with the M1 chip. The M1 3rd gen you referenced above would have been a 11" model.
