I have a MacBook Pro because I’m an audio engineer and need it for some gigs for recording or managing Dante networks. I also do a bit of video editing.
But not every gig I’m on needs a computer, and my backpack is just getting so heavy. So I waited for the M5 iPad Pro to be announced this week so I could get the M4 for $800.
This will be perfect when I’m on gigs where I don’t need an actual laptop and just want something so I can catch up on emails and invoicing during my down time.
I thought it could be useful for some people to see the visual difference of size between the two.
As for weight, the iPad Pro 11” with Magic Keyboard is around 2.25 lbs, where as the MacBook Pro 14” is around 3.5 lbs.
I believe this is still around half a pound lighter than a MacBook Air, and smaller in size, which is why I didn’t just get one of those (I wish they still made the 11” MacBook Airs!). Plus, the iPad fills a different kind of role, being able to be disconnected from the Magic Keyboard and be used as a tablet.
Hopefully, one day, they will unify the operating systems, so I can run Mac OS apps on the iPad, especially now that they have the M series chips. Then it’ll truly be perfect for most of my needs!
Does anyone know how much a boxed iPad Pro 11” weighs with original contents inside of the box?
There is dozens of reviews listing the total weight of the 13 inch model + magic keyboard at approximately 2.75 lbs, but I'm going crazy trying to find anyone who can tell me what that would be for the 11 inch model for comparison before buying.
Has anyone found this information or can weight theirs?
Thanks in advance!
