April 22, 2025 - Also even without GPS the iPad is findable with Find My, it just won’t be able to use its own GPS signal to locate, it will rely on nearby Apple devices. Other than that, the only other difference comes with the 1TB and 2TB variants (they have 16GB memory instead of 8GB). The 512 and 256 are the same specs, so nothing to choose between there. ... 256GB is more than enough storage so I’d probably take the cellular + GPS option over the added storage and then wouldn’t bother to activate a cellular plan to save the monthly expense (GPS still works regardless).

Rocking my M1 iPad Pro 11" since 2022 summer. As far as iPadOS goes (it goes nowhere) it will be fine for the next couple of years.

As a couple of others have suggested, it’s still a very good machine. I’m using a M1 Pro 11”; picked it up October 2022, and it still does exactly what I need. I’ll no doubt upgrade at some point but it hasn’t even occurred to me to do so yet. Runs iPadOS 18 smoothly, and it’ll handle another few annual updates. Caveat re storage: If either you’re not planning on storing a hundred Gb or so of video or other files on your device, or you’re happy to carry around a fast USB Pen Drive to transfer files to and fro, then 128Gb will be fine, genuinely. If, on the other hand, you think you might need the extra storage, go for 256Gb. My personal view is that Parkinson’s Law of Data Storage applies: Data expands to fit the storage available. If you’ve got the space, you’ll find a way of using it. I’ve had 256Gb for my last two iPad Pros and always have about 30Gb to 40Gb free. I’m sure that if my next one was 512Gb, I’d soon be carrying around at least 400Gb of date.
