My girlfriend won one at her work Holiday party, which is great for me because I was planning on buying her one for Christmas. Main question is how does this ipad pro stack up today? What kind of apps should we be looking into? She's mainly going to be using procreate and other art related stuff.

The 2018 iPad Pro paired with a 2nd gen Apple Pencil and Procreate is a great combination for digital artwork. The 120Hz display makes brush strokes feel really responsive and the chipset is more than powerful enough to handle large artworks without any major issues. Compared to the latest generation, there are only really two main differences: The latest generation has the hover feature, however while this is a nice feature it's not really considered essential. The latest generation has more RAM and can handle more layers. On rare occasions I've hit the RAM limit on the 2018 and couldn't add more layers however this was on a project at native resolution (2732 x 2048) and I had over 100 layers. But otherwise, the 2018 iPad Pro still holds up very well in 2022 and probably will continue to do so for a few more years to come. Side note: While the 2018 iPad Pro will fit into most cases for the 2020, 2021, and 2022 iPad Pro models, the camera cutout will be a little different and the speaker holes might not line up perfectly, so consider this if you're planning on buying accessories.

That’s the one I have, I’ve had it since new. It’s amazing. By no means is it worth trading it in or selling for the new ones. It’ll last a long time. My friend has an m1 iPad and mine is equally quick to open apps and switch. Not worth the extra money
