For another 4-5 years I think. Unless they make some radical change to iPadOS I don't see it losing support for many years. It's a Mac chip running a mobile OS, it's overkill already lol

Hi, I want to ask all of you guys about buying the iPad Pro 12.9 3rd Generation in 2024, is it still worth it tho? I plan to kinda use it on sheet music, music making and also for school too as I'm off to college for like 2 years, so is it still gonna be worth buying it now in 2024? I'm also planning to use it as a laptop replacement instead of buying a literal laptop because as I've said, I would specifically use it for reading sheet music until college.
I found one for roughly about 380 dollars it still has good battery and good storage. My mom said I should just go with the iPad 9th Gen or 10th Gen but I think it'll be too small for me. I also considered Samsung Tablets tho like the 11 inch one but as I've said, it'll be too small for me and the 12.4 is just too expensive. So that's why I would specifically opt for the iPad Pro 12.9.
Also I kinda bought an iPad 4th Gen (2012) on 2020 and it was the worst decision ever, I was also planning to use it for reading sheet music but instead it just gave up after 1 year of using it, alot if issues specifically on the screen (ghost touch) and I was aware that it wasn't getting updates anymore as it is so old, yet I still bought it lol but I guess it still served it purpose. So, I want you guys to help me on this one. I also have a very tight buget for just around 380 dollars only, and will it be enough for maybe 5 years more or less until I'd save enough to upgrade to a laptop maybe?

I would say no. Genereally anything prior to M1 chips in any device is not recommended, espcialy now that Apple announced which models will be compatible with AI. That being said, 2018 PRO is still a good tablet, It is stilll just a tablet though, it wont fully replace laptop, prolly ever. If you dont need Promotion display, look for M1 Air.If by any chance they are simmilarly priced to your 2018 Pro, go for the Air. It has plenty of power, battery and all other stuff. It mostly lacks just the promotion and better camera (you dont need camera)

I wouldn't buy any air or pro in 2024 without a M series chip.
