Hello Everyone,
I have a question for you. Say you came across a good deal for an iPad Pro with the above specifics (and the maximum configuration) and the price is a few hundred dollars cheaper than the regular price. Is this an investment worth doing right now? I wanted this thing for years (7 years to be exact, I remember ordering one first in Nov 2023, which was also 12.9 Inch, 2 TB and Wifi + Cellular, then found it too expensive and cancelled the order before it even shipped.) so it is not exactly a vanity purchase on a whim, I don't strictly need it either though. I just want to have it to pair with the MacBook Pro to have the feeling of the `Ecosystem`.
My fear is, I will be really disappointed when Apple launches the M3 version of this in 2 months or so. It happened with M2 MacBook Pro (2 MacBook Pros in one year, I mean come on, who really needed that?) I am thinking I could still sell this for a price close to what I will be paying, so that would be the silver lining, it looks like iPad pros with that configuration that are taken good care of would sell for 1200$ or so, which isn't nothing.
I would appreciate what you would think/do if you were buying right now, or what do you think about the odds that Apple launches M3 iPad in Jan 2024. Thank you for your helpful responses and kindly indulging my questions.

I upgraded my Gen3 iPad Pro 12.9 (A12X Bionic) to the Gen 6 iPad Pro 12.9 (M2) in October. Honestly I see some speed difference but nothing that says "Oh my God". I will say that I have yet to run into any apps that bog down either of my iPads. I only upgraded because my charging port went bad and the boss (wife) said to get a new one. At this point the M3 coming to iPad is a little bit speculation. With Apple until I see it actually released I don't believe it. Too many times there have been rumored features and then they don't happen. Honestly anything with the M series chip will be supported for a very long time. I would suspect the next iPads will still use the M2 processors but feature a OLED display. I don't see the M3 in the iPad until 2025. As far as being disappointed when a new iPad is released that is up to you. Honestly the M2 iPad has more power than you could ever use so there is no reason to be disappointed. Since you don't already have a iPad you could just wait and then get the new one. iPad release is about 7 months away mid 2024.

I just got an open box m2 with 512 gb from Best Buy for 300 off msrp. It came and it had never even been taken out of the paper wrapping. I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase. My thoughts are this. It is very unlikely you are going to make the m2 chip sweat. Therefore, it’s even more unlikely that you’ll need the m3 in the immediate future. Unless you absolutely can’t live without a landscape front camera which will likely be on the m3 model, I would go with the M2. It will be a great companion device for your laptop thanks to sidecar. Plus it will be easier to find accessories on discount since we’ve had this same form factor for a little while. And at the end of the day. There will always be a newer device. Why wait for an m3 when you could wait for an m4
