The generic keyboards are 1/5 the price of a Smart Keyboard. I would like to use my iPad for a bit of typing.
After using the Magic Keyboard for several years now, the realization that there's no Smart Keyboard Folio for the newest M4 iPad pros hit me. Why isn't the option there? It was superior to the Magic Keyboard in so many ways for someone who uses their device for art / browsing
Smart Keyboard Folio:
can be folded behind iPad without removing
iPad screen > tiny trackpad for navigation
weighs way less
costs way less

I really don't need an inferior laptop-like experience, the Magic Keyboard takes away from the iPad's greatest strength: you got a big touch screen / trackpad right in front of you
Pardon my language but I think this is a pretty damn nifty keyboard. It does have its quirks like the chunky arrow key arrangement Apple was big on at the time but, on the whole, it’s a very lovely keyboard to use. The fine woven keys took a little getting used to but now I love them, plus they’re fun to fiddle with when the case is folded around the back.
It’s just amazing to me how remarkably well these two 7 year old products still hold up in 2025.
