Just do it in the edit. Shoot a clip in 4K, then zoom (with crop) to the desired resolution at the desired speed

Your title makes no sense. Zooming in on a 4k sensor? If youre recording 1080p the 4k sensor is still being used when zooming in for “digital zoom”, but your output is 1080p. Technically, yes, the basic camera app does this.

Hi!
I'm looking for a better way to do zooms on my iPhone. I'm shooting a lot of video from live concerts and I'd like to get SMOOTH zooms (not using the pinch zoom OR the smooth roller zoom, which tends to get jerky, despite sometimes working ok). Are there any video filming apps that have smooth automated zooms? For example going from 1x to 2x smoothly and slowly.

The best solution would be to just shoot wide and only using pan/tilt motions. The zooming on iPhones are totally digital, meaning you’re just taking what is hitting the sensor and cropping it while recording. There is. I optical zoom going on. True, there are multiple lenses/sensors but the actually zooming process is just a digital crop until you get to the focal range of the next camera sensor and most of the time those cameras don’t even look great. So your best option is just shoot wide and do your pan-and-scan in your editing software.

You can Keyframe the Zoom in Post, the Phone cant really Zoom anyways so you wont loose that much imagequality. For Longer Zooms, you shoud think about getting a Camcorder, they are pretty good at Zooming and stabilising.
