August 29, 2021 - If you are a pro familiar with shooting long exposures, you'll immediately realize something is fundamentally different about how the iPhone 11 Pro collects light in Night mode. From what I understand, the way Night mode actually works is the camera captures a bunch of short exposures and slightly longer exposures, checks them for sharpness, throws out the bad ones and blends the good ones.

October 1, 2023 - It also seems that the iPhone camera app detects if your iPhone is mounted to a tripod (because of the motion sensors built into iPhone). If iPhone 11 pro thinks it's attached to a tripod, you can set a much longer exposure time then when you're using it handheld.

October 21, 2019 - Another unique feature of Apple’s new Immersive UI is its uniquely precise zoom control for both photography and videography, coupled with remarkably smooth zooming throughout the iPhone 11 Pro’s zoom range. Multi-camera phones typically show artifacts when switching between their differing focal length cameras during zooming, but as part of its “cinema quality” video experience, the iPhone 11 has made those transitions almost invisible.

A combination of the faster, sharper glass and improved processing makes photos from the Tele camera noticibly better with a nicer, natural bokeh (background blur). The Tele camera works great in Portrait mode. Another plus is that the better low-light performance of the iPhone 11 Pro Tele means that the iPhone is less likely to switch over to the Wide camera in low-light and shaky conditions and digitally zoom by 2x.

And the quality of the Night Mode images is class-leading. They have plenty of detail, they are sharp enough but not over-sharpened, the colors are excellent, the contrast is top-notch, the exposure is very balanced, and overall, we loved every single picture. May 25, 2021 - In almost every example in this test I prefer the look of the images from the iPhone 12 over those taken on the iPhone 11 Pro. Details are clearer, shots are brighter and more vibrant, and Night mode images have seen huge improvements.

September 22, 2019 - So I’ve been conducting some tests, my biggest issue is the strange blurry effect the built in camera app adds to photos in low light, the X and XS don’t do this · That's actually entirely different, it's Night Mode. Basically in low light, the iPhone 11/11 Pro will take multiple exposures over a period of time to be able to take a better quality picture in low light, but the downside is it will take one to two seconds to do so, and if you move at all there will be blur.
