Enhanced stabilization - this will sacrifice the amount that you can “zoom out” on a video in order to produce a video that isn’t shaky. I highly recommend keeping this on. Action mode lower light - this feature uses the ultra-wide lens while shooting. It allows you to move the camera around a LOT and the end result is buttery-smooth. This process needs a lot of light because it’s using the ultra-wide lens, which needs more light to perform well. If you turn this on, they will let you use it in lower lighting conditions than usual, but the quality of the stabilization and overall image will not be of amazing quality. Off is the default choice here. Auto FPS - I actually hate this feature. It will drop your video frame rate if the light levels are very low. When the frame rate is lower, the sensor has more time to capture light in each frame. Basically it sacrifices your frame rate for a brighter image. In reality, the transition is clunky and 24fps looks really bad for anything other than cinema. I gave it a try for about a week, I’ve left it off ever since. HEIF max vs ProRAW - Use HEIF or HEIF Max as your default (HEIF max allows you to zoom in further to your images). ProRAW captures a LOT more data in your images, which allows you to make heavy edits with lighting and color. If you have no intention heavily editing a photo, keep this off… the photos it takes are huge (upwards of 50x larger than HEIF files). ProRES - If you don’t already know what this is, do not use it. This is for filmmakers. This produces MASSIVE video files that will eat up your storage very quickly. Prioritize faster shooting - What’s more important to you? Taking better photos or being able to snap many pictures back to back quickly, but at a lower quality? I keep this off, I want all my photos to be in the highest quality… but your needs may be different than mine. Answer from macmaverickk on reddit.com

Is iOS going to fix the camera? I have an iPhone 14 pro max. Ever since I bought it the camera can’t focus and the quality on instagram when taking a story is so horrible. It looks fine on the screen but when the photo is taken it looks like a water color painting and less contrast. More on discussions.apple.com
Tips on taking photos with IPhone 11
If you open the camera app there is a small arrow at the top of the screen, select it to open a menu at the bottom of the screen. Scroll all the way to the right and find 3 overlapping rings. Click this to open a menu with various filters and play with those for various effects. I find vivid works nice when there are lots of colors or you’re out in nature. For the selfie camera, go to the phones settings and click Camera. Turn on “Mirror Front Camera” so that pics you take with the front camera don’t get flipped. More on reddit.com

There’s been posts and lengthy articles on this topic but responses vary and they’re often complicated.
I’ve ruled out ProRes Log, but everything else I’m not sure about.
Here are some examples:
Enhanced Stabilization
Action Mode Lower Light
Auto FPS
HEIF Max or ProRAW Max
Apple ProRes

Are you talking about still photography or videography? Generally speaking it is virtually impossible to get the image you have in your mind without doing any editing at all.

November 30, 2019 - I'm not asking about the app you are using. I'm asking which camera you are using. Your iPhone has 3 cameras. Telephoto, Wide and Ultra Wide. If you are using for example the Ultra Wide camera, there is no optical stabilization and it is the slowest of the three cameras at f2.4.

Just got a brand new IPhone 11 and so far I am very pleased, though I need some tips in taking photos with this device. Are there any best settings or just general tips on taking photos? Also when you set your IPhone 11 in low battery mode and when your iPhone in general is low on battery %, does the camera quality go down to save power until your charge it? Thank you very much, and Merry Christmas!

If you need tips for taking good pictures please for the love of god don’t shoot RAW, unless you want to spend hours editing every single picture you take. RAW actually makes your pictures look WORSE, but gives you more to work with when editing. Just taking normal pictures it’s more than good enough, and you can still edit them to make them look great. And this is coming from someone who does professional photography and shot a wedding using my iPhone, and had a producer out of LA want to use some iPhone video I took for his sizzle reel to pitch to a network. Just use your normal camera app, and use the normal camera for best image quality. Only use the wide angle when you want to take a picture of a room or something indoors. Trust me. Learn to play with the stock editor built into the photos app, it’s really great and for most pictures just having it “auto” edit does a great job. If you want to step up your video quality, buy a mobile gimbal, like the DJI ones, I forgot what it’s called. But honestly the built in image stabilization is really good on its own!
