There was a post about this and most people are at 90-100% after 1 year so mine seems unusually low. Did I get a low quality phone or something? Might it be sometimes I use it until it dies which might hurt the battery?

From what I’ve been reading, the 12 series seems to have battery issues. I’m sitting here with iPhone 13 series phone since launch day and the battery is still at 100%. I charge wirelessly and by cord directly depending on the day.
