I’ve used the magnetic car mount in the picture for years. It’s not a MagSafe mount, so it did require a metal plate on my phone case, but I didn’t mind. I recently got a custom made wood phone case (it is MagSafe compatible) and I don’t want to ruin it by sticking a metal plate to it. So I’d like to switch to a MagSafe mount. However, due to the texture, material, and curvature/lack of flat surface of my dash, I’m extremely limited on where I can put a mount. Basically where the mount is now, or the lighter colored piece of plastic next to the vent are my only options. I definitely don not want a vent mount. The base of the mount is approx. 2 in. long and 1 in. wide. I’m looking for something with a base that size. Anybody have any recommendations?
I’m thinking of buying a MagSafe compatible dock for my car— the one that still uses the official Apple MagSafe puck. I’ve seen a lot of MagSafe car mount reviews, but those are usually the ones that already have the MagSafe charger built in.
Since I have an extra puck, I’m just thinking of ordering a holder for it which I can mount on my car’s vent. However, I’m not sure if it’ll be strong enough such that the phone won’t fall when it goes through speed humps or rough patches. I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro Max so the weight is definitely something to consider.
It’s hard to simulate actual road conditions such as rough vibrations with just my hand, so I’m wondering what are other people’s experiences with it.
Let me preface this by mentioning I specifically want to use a phone mount that attaches to the windshield, I have always found this to be the best in terms of strength and staying attached to my cars.
I bought one of these for each of my cars,

along with 4 MagSafe 25W 2M cables, even though this adapter is for the old 15w cables, the puck fits in this scosche adapter without issue. The Scosche adapter has a sticky backing for the Puck to mount to, and this has worked fine for charging my 16PM.
The problem lies in the magnetic strength, even the slightest bumps will make my phone fall to the floor. I have to angle the mount at an uncomfortable angle to make the phone less susceptible to falling.
Whereas, I had been using these products, they use MagSafe and a suction cup, and it holds the phone much better, but no way to charge except using usb-c wired charging:

Is there any better alternative car mount/holder for MagSafe out there that holds better than the Scosche? I couldn’t find anything when researching on my end.
Can I add another metal MagSafe ring, or double sided sticky tape that I would have to constantly replace when it gets dusty, or some similar mod like this to prevent my phone from falling?
on a side note, I really liked the longer retractable arm of the Omoton mount as it gave easier access to the phone in the car, the Scosche I can barely reach my phone’s screen for things like GPS interaction.
