Those who have been using this case, can you share your experience?
Is this the same case which has complete opening at the bottom?
Hey everyone!
I just ordered the official Apple Clear Case with MagSafe (also called the acrylic clear case) and I was wondering… what’s your experience with it? Does it offer good protection? How does it hold up over time (yellowing, scratches, grip, etc)?
Also, if you have any recommendations for other clear MagSafe cases (preferably ones available on Amazon), I’d love to hear!
Looking for something that still shows off the phone but offers decent drop protection.
Thanks in advance! 😊

I am on the hunt for a MagSafe case for my iPhone 12 as I recently got a MagSafe Battery Pack and my current case is not compatible. I am currently looking at the Spigen Mag Armor, the Mous Limitless 4.0. I don't mind buying the Mous, however $80 for a case for a phone that I plan to keep for only 2 more years seems excessive. I am open to any and all suggestions.
Hearing nothing but bad things. It’s too slippery, it cracks, buttons are hard to press, etc. I’m a fan of the design (might be the only one) but wanted to see if there have been any positive experiences
Hi there! I got an iPhone 12 and I got an accessory. It is a card holder and stand. The thing doesn’t have the best magnets so I am in the search of a case. All I ask is if there are any clear iPhone cases with a strong magnet to make up for the underperformance of my card holder, preferably under 15-20 dollars. Thank you in advance!
So I got my iPhone 12 Pro a month or so ago and then got myself the MagSafe clear case and am pretty disappointed. The buttons are hard to push and the case started braking at the bottom bc I took it off a few times and put it back probably too brutally... anyway I was wondering if the silicone case is better? Does anyone have it and could confirm that the buttons are intact easier to press than the clear one? Or might the leather case be better?
Also I really want the MagSafe feature so I don’t want to use any other cases.
Edit: thanks for all the comments and suggestions! I ordered the silicone even if the leather might be fancier and little nice according to some.
Edit2: for anyone reading this later, the silicone was nice but the corners really started peeling a little at the top and it was very sticky in the pocket so i went with the Leather case now after all all.
Go with the leather case .. also some of the 3rd party MagSafe cases on Amazon are good.
I have been using the leather one from day one and it’s been perfect for me.
I’ve used both (and also the leather). The silicone is 100% better than the clear case. I prefer the leather for a little more grip but the silicone is solid and buttons are not as hard to push.
Looking for the best clear case for iPhone 12 Pro Max best as in durable and one that will stay clear for as long as possible (yellow slower)
So far heard good things about Tech21, Speck etc.
What are your experiences so far with clear cases and yellowing?
I don’t know from which brand to get one. I was already thinking of the Apple one but it has this cutout at the bottom, which I really don’t like. I’ve found one on Amazon from JETech but I don’t know how good the quality is. Any good suggestions?
I feel like I got screwed with my iPhone 12 Pro case-wise since it was the first iPhone to have MagSafe, and it took a long time for third party MagSafe cases to become available. By the time the iPhone 13 came out, MagSafe cases were only being made for the iPhone 13.
So now, the only legit MagSafe options for the iPhone 12/Pro are pretty much Apple or OtterBox. I've tried them all and none of them are great. I'm only interested in cases that are about the size/thickness of Apple's silicone and leather cases. Below is a list of my issues with the ones that I've tried.
If anyone knows of any underrated iPhone 12/Pro cases with (real) MagSafe, please share! Otherwise, I actually like Apple's clear MagSafe case, it's just too slippery and I need to somehow make it less slippery. Any ideas for this would be appreciated as well!
~~~ Experienced Cases List ~~~
Apple Silicone Case: Excellent at first, but after about 4 weeks, gets too rubbery/sticky
Apple Leather Case: Excellent at first, but after about 4 weeks, gets too sticky (even after cleaning)
Apple Clear Case: Decent, but way too slippery.
OtterBox Aneu w/ MagSafe: Pretty good, this has been the best one in most categories. It's just a bit too thick, and the power button cover is too squishy (instead of clicky).
Spigen Mag Armor compatible w/ MagSafe: Didn't try this, but I heard that the MagSafe is not magnetic enough. I need it to be legit enough to stay on my Belkin MagSafe car mount. Let me know if this is still worth a try.
Nomad Modern Leather Case: I'm curious about this one, I'm not sure it's worth the price. Let me know if you think otherwise.
I got the iPhone 12 pro and the case fit extremely tight and got scuff marks around the edges. I just received my case for the 13 pro and it fits nicer and the buttons are way easier to press. I wanted to see if anyone else noticed this.
I didn’t notice cause I didn’t have a 12 Pro but I JUST bought my third case since the first two clear ones I got (official apple clear magsafe) had scuff marks before I put it on my phone. Luckily third times a charm. Im wondering if that’s common or shipping messed it up? Il
I never had the clear case for the 12 but I have the clear case for the 13. I found that a lot of the complaints people had for the 12 weren't there for the 13. I didn't find it slippery, I thought the buttons were clicky and it was a solid case overall.
I will admit that I switched over to the silicone case because I love the pink polemo color but I would've kept it otherwise
I understand these kinds of things are entirely subjective, but I wanted to offer my experience with the clear case. I was excited to get a clear case for my Pacific Blue 12 Pro so I could show off the new color, and figured that Apple's case would be good quality because of my experience with their other cases in the past. Nope.
It's ridiculously slippery. Like, I've been afraid to use my phone with it in the case because it keeps slipping out of my hands.
-
It’s more rigid and thicker than I was expecting, so it added more bulk than I was hoping to.
-
Probably the biggest sin of this case is how ridiculously hard it is to press the buttons. In the 24 hours I had it, I took so many screenshots because I had to grip the left side while pressing the power button. In contrast, the silicone cases have wonderful, easy to press buttons. It’s crazy.
I’m sure some people will like the clear case, but I just wanted to provide my opinion to anybody that was considering it. I for one just traded it for a navy silicone one at the Apple store and am much happier now.
EDIT: I forgot to mention originally that another problem I have with it is that there is a lip around the camera cut out. So even with the case, it doesn’t sit flat on a table. Why, Apple?
Yea I think I’ll end up doing the same myself.
I’m constantly panicking every time I pick it up because it’s so slippery. Don’t feel confident with it at all, and worry it will fall taking it out of my pocket.
I also find the white MagSafe strip on the back bothers me visually more than I thought it would.
Caseless is the way
Hey guys,
So I just ordered an iPhone 12 pro after only having androids for the past 8 years. My phone will be here in two weeks so I'd like to get a good case asap to protect it. I've seen that the the Otterbox cases won't be shipped until late November, so I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for best cases available right now? Thanks in advance!
Hey everyone,
I’ve got a question for those of you that own a MagSafe compatible clear case (doesn’t have to be the apple one). How is the grip/friction with your MagSafe accessories? I’m currently using the apple leather case and from what I’ve read the texture of the case helps with the secure feeling of MagSafe accessories. I have a clear casetify MagSafe case on the way, and I’m curious if I can expect a similar feeling? Or will the slippery nature of the plastic case make them less secure?
Thanks!
I have the clear case and while I like the way it looks since I can see the color of the phone it is the least comfortable and functional of the cases I own. It is slippery, the buttons are really hard since it’s hard plastic, the find my feature in the newer wallets doesn’t activate since I guess it doesn’t sense it’s connected to a phone and the wallet isn’t as secure as on one of my silicone cases. Oh yea and it always finds a way to slip out of my car mount while driving as well, but I’ve been thinking about trying a magsafe car mount as well to counter act that since the silicone cases will do that too if they are slick like after I put on lotion, then grab my phone then head out and put it on the mount.
I have the Apple clear MagSafe case and the Speck clear MagSafe case for my green iPhone 12. I use a MagSafe PopSocket with both cases and it works quite well with both.
I prefer the feel of the Speck case because it’s rounded. However, the Speck case does discolor at the softer areas of the case. The Apple case tends to get stress fractures when you remove the case at the bottom portion of the case.
Alas, there is no perfect case.
I was thinking about getting the clear MagSafe case for my 12 pro since I’m also planning on getting the MagSafe charger, but after further inspection of the pictures I see online for the clear case, I’m not sure if I want it anymore. What case is everyone getting? Also any suggestions for a screen protector?
Being that I recently got magsafe charger and a new apple clear case for my relatively new iPhone 13 Pro, it came with a few concerns. Will it cause damage to my phone over time? Does the case protect the phone well enough? I am looking for people that have dropped their phone with an apple clear case with an iPhone 12 and 13, or feedback from 12 owners that have used a magsafe charger for about a year.
I will say this. I have had my iPhone 12 Pro Max since it was released. The day I opened the box I put a Zagg screen protector on it. I have had all sorts of cases speck, otterbox, lifeproof, some thinner leather cases and a few rubbery clear cases that turned yellow etc. I’ve dropped my phone many many times without incident. But (yep it’s coming) I bought the clear MagSafe case on sale about 3 weeks ago. As of today the screen protector is shattered. Luckily the phone itself is ok. I dropped my phone last night off my nightstand. First and only time with the apple case. Dunno if it’s coincidental or not but that’s my experience. Needless to say possibly but that case came off and more protective one went back on (My Casley bold Van Gogh). The apple case doesn’t cover the bottom edge and that’s exactly where the shattered screen protector got damaged.
Clear case doesn’t yellow, I’ve had it on my iPhone 12 mini. The case does crack easily tho
Has it gotten less slippery over time? Would you prefer a silicone case instead?
Or is it better off getting one from Aliexpress?
