New iPhone 12 deal with port in but want to use my old number instead question
Yes if the number you want to use is a cricket sim then you can just stick it in any cricket-locked phone and disregard the number that you ported solely to get the deal pricing, without any issues.

iPhone 12 question(cricket wireless)
Current sim worked for us. Theoretically you only get 5g from Cricket if you buy the phone from them but we are getting it (I think) both on an unlocked Galaxy and iPhone12. Though it could just be LTE+ lighting up the 5G light. About 75mbps down speeds. I tried Google Fi (T-Mobile) 5G and it was slightly slower down but much faster up. We don't have mm wave (real) 5G in the neighborhood where we live, only for a few blocks downtown so Verizon does not make sense for us. Verizon does not have any 5g in our neighborhood. Best to have a chat with Cricket before buying this phone.
More on reddit.comLooking at the iPhone 12 deal, but out of stock. Is it likely that cricket will restock before Christmas?
I have a cricket phone number but lost the phone. It’s an iPhone SE 2020 but a replacement would be $150 which I don’t think is worth it. So instead I got a number to port in to cricket and got an iPhone 12 for $199 but it was activated with an eSIM. I’m kind of wanting to keep the old number but would need to get a new SIM card with the number on it. Would I be able to just put that sim in the new phone and delete the eSIM and keep using the phone with my old number instead or could that flag the phone for some kind of fraud or something?
I'm planning on buying a 2nd hand unlocked iPhone 12 5g but was wondering if I need to take it to cricket wireless to get a new sim card since its 5g or do I just remove my current sim and pop it into the iphone 12? I'm a current cricket customer if that helps.

What color is your SIM? The newer ones are all white. It should work fine by swapping SIM. The older ones are white / green. You can get the replacement SIM from their website or local Best Buy / Walmart / Target (same price). Just need to contact Cricket online chat support (for free) to assign the new replacement SIM to your existing line.
However, remember you need to be on their most expensive Cricket Unlimited More to be able to connect to 5G network.
Good luck.
