I'm thinking about buying the iPhone 12, 128gb. It will be my first experience with an Apple cell phone, do you think they are worth it? (its value is 2450 R$, battery 88%)
Tell me your experiences please.
I am looking for an iPhone to get with a new mobile contract for my mother, we dont have any high needs, we just need a cheap iPhone that works and thats it, my mother just use it casually at home to phone, use WhatsApp, send photos, etc.
I myself have a iPhone 12 and think it works great, I see no reason to upgrade. My only concern with getting a brand new iPhone 12 here is that the phone maybe won't be supported for the latest iOS anymore in 1-2 years maybe?
I currently have an iPhone XR that’s almost 5 years old. I average either 3 or 9 hours of screen time a day depending on school and work and one charge will last me most of my day only needing topped off in the evening. I’m currently at 79% battery health. Is it worth upgrading to an iPhone 12 refurbished. I found one that’s apple certified and nearly have the price of the 15. My phone screen recently cracked and am considering my options
Hi! Been really stalking this subreddit for a long time, I've been an Android user my entire life and currently still also use a Fold 3 as my android daily driver. Last year I decided to try the iPhone, as I sort of needed a second phone for work, and wanted to broaden my experience with Apple devices. I grabbed an iPhone XS, and used that to upgrade/trade in for a 12 Pro.
My experience, has honestly been great! I can understand why people enjoy Apple devices, the overall build quality and software tweaking is absolutely beautiful. I adore the design and the COLOR (pacific blue) and it feels great in the hand.
Performance has been great, never seen much of a worry considering the A chip inside, and browsing through the OS never failed me unless I was on the iOS 15 beta for obvious reasons. Coming from Android, the software definitely DOES feel restricted, missing things like Youtube Vanced (ad free youtube for free), easy theming of the icons, and things like secure folder, and other small software features. BUT, the things that iOS does have, feel solid and problem free for the most part.
Battery, has been sort of disappointing in comparison to something like a 13 Pro, but it can still last me all day if I tread lightly, but if I facetime then my battery will absolutely diminish quickly. After a year of using the 12 Pro, battery health is still at 100% which is surprising. I charge it at least one more time a day but it's fine, I do that anyways with my Fold 3 already so I was never used to "good" battery life anyways.
Feature experience has been fun! Using facetime feels refreshing over something like Google Duo, or Discord video calling. Facetime feels more "normal" and people don't necessarily question a facetime call. If I discord video call someone, they'll ask "why would you do that" but using facetime is just normal. It's fun, besides the battery drain. iMessage was also great to experience! I have seen some bugs, like the chat freezing up and I'd have to close the app and reopen it, or attachments not attaching to the chat and having to reopen the app again. When that isn't happening, iMessage is great, the amount of tools you have is great and reminds me of Google Messages on Android which is a good thing. And wow those green bubbles hurts the eyes, like actually lmao. Siri still sucks, no offense, but its lack luster in comparison with google assistant but good enough to initiate a call with my airpods. That physical mute switch is awesome! Not sure why most android phones or even Google phones don't have that as part of their design. It's just convenient! OnePlus devices have them but I've never been a fan of them. Face ID is natural, and do appreciate the work that went in into making it work as intended. It's quick, and seamless.
Form-factor is great, I dislike the Pro Max sizes they're just to big, and at that point I use my Fold if I need anything on a larger display, but the regular Pro size is amazing and perfect. Fits and feels natural in my hand and I can appreciate the design a lot more with the stainless steel sides and matte glass. Notch disappears and I don't mind it really.
Overall, I've enjoyed my experience with an iPhone after using it for a year, and I just wanted to admit from an Android users perspective that I can understand and respect Apple devices for the most part, and I see no problem in people switching from time to time to fit their desires and needs. I still will mostly daily drive my Android because I'm into the ecosystem on there with Google that I can't make an immediate switch 100%. I've seen a lot of reddit comment hate on both subreddits for iPhone and Fold3, when people talk about the opposing devices but it's honestly really silly because at the end of the day they're phones that at their roots do the same thing. How you want to pick out your devices is on you, but hating on others for picking one or switching over to the other pains me to read sometimes! Thanks for making most of the posts on here enjoyable, and will continue to use my 12 Pro for a few years.
Cheers!
An Android User
EDIT 1: You guys, I didn't expect to get this many upvotes on what really is just a small review, thank you!! Glad to read some of the comments here, most of them actually!! I'm an employee at a carrier so I interact with all these phones on the daily, and it's really something else to sit down and use the phone you've never truly experienced.
