They’re incredibly hard to find in-store right now — randomly showing up to the store will most likely not work. That said, use an inventory checker, like this one: https://iphonechecker.herokuapp.com/
As soon as you see the phone you want in stock, buy it through Apple.com, selecting the “pick up in store” option. That’s how I ended up with my 14 Pro. Ordered it and had it in-hand the same day.
