Regarding charging, all USB-C cables will deliver at least 60W per the USB-C standard. The iPhone 15 takes 20W officially, 27W unofficially. This means that any USB-C cable is sufficient for charging the iPhone 15. All that matters is the power adapter that you use. The USB-C cable that comes with the iPhone 15 uses USB 2.0, so it will transfer data at 480Mbps. This is the maximum possible on the base iPhone 15 models. If you have a Pro, you can transfer data at 10Gbps if you get yourself a USB-C cable that uses USB 3.2. This will have no effect at all on charging speed, just data transfer.

Apple's iPhone 15 USB-C Port Has Me Stoked. But There Are Downsides - CNET
September 26, 2023 - There was plenty of kvetching when Apple switched to the Lightning port, even though it was clear Lightning was superior to the bulky, fragile 30-pin connector that preceded it. I'm expecting more complaints with the iPhone's USB-C switch as people discover that all those cables they have stashed in glove boxes, office desks, school backpacks and bedside tables have become obsolete.

r/iphone on Reddit: Is the USB-C cable that come with the base iPhone 15 a "standard USB-C cable"?
July 11, 2023 -
With the earlier iPhones I seem to remember that all legitimate Apple lightning cables had a small chip inside them to verify they were legit.
Is this the case with the USB-C cables or are they just all standard cables now? (I know there are different grades of USB-C cables)
Thanks.

USB C cables are all standardised and don't use special Apple certification. This means the cable shipped with your iPhone will work with non-Apple products and non-Apple USB C cables will also work with your iPhone.

There isn’t an MFI standard per se, but different usb c cables will have different features. For example what comes with the iPhones is USB C and supports power delivery, but only 2.0 data speeds.
