Many cases claim their protective resistance to drops. These cases are generally made from silicone/hard rubber material - or dual layer TPU Plastic inner casing + Outer rubber casing like the Otterbox Defender series cases.
But there are minimalist cases that are made from aluminum like the image below.
Sure, since they aren't fully covered they're prone to scratches. But I'm mainly focused on high drop impacts. A phone with a hard rubber case is flimsy, when the phone falls a 15ft drop, the bending moment generated from its corners causes so much torque in that area, that the phone will just break due to flexural stress.
However, a hard aluminum or metal case will resist most of the bending moment and save the phone.
Thoughts?
