r/iphone on Reddit: What charger can I use for iPhone 16?
April 4, 2025 -

My husband and I just upgraded to 16s and we both had 11s before. When I got the new phones the person at the store said I need to use USB-C to USB-C chargers and that a regular USB to USB-C wouldn’t work. We already have a bunch of usb to usb-c chargers at home because of other devices we have and I’m scared to try to use one to charge my phone because of what the man at the store said (don’t want to ruin a brand new phone). I’ve googled and looked at different forums and seem to be getting differing answers so I’m just generally confused.

r/iphone on Reddit: 20W or 30W USB-C Power Adapter for IPhone 16 Pro?
October 18, 2024 -

I’m just so confused on which power adapter to get for my IPhone 16 Pro 256 GP. I won’t be using MagSafe to charge my phone, only USB-C cable. Please help. Is 30W even compatible with the IPhone 16 Pro or should I just get the 20W? I know there’s quite a big price difference so I’d like to be absolutely sure.

You can charge your 16 Pro with any wattage charger that you want. I have charged mine with the original Apple 5w charging brick, with Anker 7.5 and 20w bricks, and I have charged it with my 96w MacBook charger. You need 20w for fast charging with a USB-C cable and 30w for fast charging with the new version of the MagSafe charger. The original version of the MagSafe charger is not capable of fast charging no matter what wattage brick you have. My normal charging is with an Anker 20w brick and the original Apple MagSafe wireless charger.

You can use any charger you want, the phone, cable & charger all talk to each other and the phone will only get what it can handle. If you use the 100w MacBook Pro charger the phone still only receives what it can handle. Just buy a good quality one. 20w is the standard right now for iPhone. It can use 30w but only in a small amount of situations. If you plug in a volt/watt meter you'll see it almost never actually gets above 20w. So only slight benefit to 30w but it would be good future proofing for the next few years and 30w chargers are cheap. I'd say buy a good quality 30w charger and you're set for years but if a 20w one is on sale or cheaper that's more than fine too ! I like ones that have more than 1 port and can handle multiple devices at once at 20-30w each. I also like 6ft cables. There's so many good choices. Some brands I like: anker, ugreen, baseus, iniu, esr, spigen. These brands are great too but too expensive if you ask me: apple, mophie, belkin. https://a.co/d/0yuYxLK https://a.co/d/6dVJ9EW https://a.co/d/cCYi9VH https://a.co/d/d7yYBSl https://a.co/d/a44p8Wj

I am currently using usb to usb c cable to charge iphone. I want to use the cable given by apple but there are no adapters anymore. so which usb c adapter do you use for iphones?

r/iphone on Reddit: Charging my IPhone 16 with a 40 watt cable and charger
September 14, 2024 -

For my previous Android phone, I bought all 40-watt chargers and cables. Now I see in the specifications of my iPhone 16 that it requires 30-watt charging. My question is: can I charge my iPhone 16 with a 40-watt charger and cable without any harmful effects?

Can I also use my 65 watt laptop charger for charging my IPhone?
