I've been thinking of buying a wallet with an airtag slot vs Apple's finewoven wallet. I heard the finewoven wallet will tell you the location of where it was disconnected but does precision finding work? Or if someone picks it up and connects it to their iphone, will my contact information come up?

It tells you roughly where it was disconnected. That’s it. No precision support. if you drop it somewhere and it gets moved after, you won’t find it. if you lose it in your couch, you’re not getting an arrow pointing direction and distance. Just a dot saying it’s somewhere in or near your house. it also takes awhile to notice it’s disconnected. You may have walked 400 feet since it dislodged. So its reported location won’t be accurate if you were moving when you lost it. I have never found the feature useful for Apple’s first party wallets. It’s a checkbox feature for marketing and nothing more.

It’s very basic, but I have been able to use it to locate my wallet in the past. I was getting out of an Uber, and realized my wallet was missing. I scoured the uber, but no luck. Find My showed its last location as where I got in the Uber, so I returned. It turned out it had somehow detached from my phone as I was sitting on a wall waiting for my uber to arrive… so it was mostly retracing my steps, but aided by Find My.

With the case off it does but with the MagSafe silicone case on it does not find the wallet anymore but of course physically it sticks.
