Hi, · You can't upgrade the memory. The memory is part of the mother board. If you try to unsolder the memory i.c. you will damage your board. No. Not feasible. The motherboard really "is" the phone, and costs about the same as a new phone--with the price depending on its storage capacity. Many chips and bits on the logic board are replaceable. Not the data chips though.

This is not something you should do yourself if you don’t have experience in. It’s really easy to ruin the phone / board . Find credible repair shop that does micro soldering and let professionals do it for you . I know it looks easy in youtube videos , but it’s not .

Would not recommend this at all. There is a high risk from whatever storage chip they use suddenly failing on you to being improperly installed. I’ve heard of it being done more as a fun experiment but it’s risky for the long term. I’ll be honest the XR is going on 5 years and if you need the storage why not upgrade phones? You can then invest in a phone with more storage while also being a big upgrade and then plan to keep it even longer than the XR.
