Models with N just mean it was replaced by Apple. I had to have my 15 PM replaced and my model starts with N. It doesn’t mean anything other than denoting that the device was a replacement. More on reddit.com

What does "/A" mean at the end of the model string?

It’s the revision version of the part number. Unfortunately I can’t think of any specific examples at the moment, but some accessories have gotten a revision and have been given LL/B at the end of their part number. Edit: I think I found a specific example. The Thunderbolt Display was released with part number MC914LL/A. When they began bundling the MagSafe to MagSafe 2 adapter, they changed it to MC914LL/B. No change to the hardware itself, but an added accessory in the box warranted a revised part number More on reddit.com
