I am of the age that if I am spending this much money on an upgrade it should be an upgrade. Not to mention since it isn't a default app it won't integrate with the control center or iMessage. i’ve been an iphone user for the past decade or whatever, and have had every single iphone since the 8+. I’ve had the 14 pro max for 6 months and it’s the worst camera i’ve ever had on an iphone. the macro control lenses constantly switching, photos are grainy beyond belief if the lighting isn’t top tier, and i’m beyond frustrated taking 10+ photos that have 0 good ones.
maybe i’m just an old man yelling at the kids on his lawn but I hate it.
EDIT; hey guys look no one is ever going to see eye to eye on a situation and that’s totally okay. what I don’t think is okay is having to use 3rd party apps to assist with any kind of photo taking in general. the great thing about Apple is its simplicity when/if you want it. plenty of iphones have the capability to point, shoot, and get a great imagine. I don’t think this one is. i’ve attached some pictures for reference if you want to see what i’m referring to. here ya go

I’ve had nearly every iPhone myself and while I agree to some extent such as at night shots are 50/50, but in ideal lighting and broad daylight indoors and out 95% of my photos come out really good in 12MP HEIC mode and even more so using RAW 48MP or even 12MP with the other lenses. You can turn on manual override for macro mode in the camera settings in the actual settings app. Not sure about the grain though in some cases excessive grain even in lowlight could indicate a faulty camera sensor.
