This has happened to me with an iphone 6. I am unsure of the ios version and can't work it out since I can't get into the phone. I've got this exact image on my lockscreen, though the photo is from another post.
Trying to solve the problem I saw here that the same problem has occurred to someone else, but there was no answer to explain why the problem occurred.
Can anyone explain how "iphone unavailable" can appear when there wasn't 10 failed attempts to enter the passcode?
Do I just need to reset my phone?
Potentially relevant: I got this phone from my dad, and around the time the phone became unavailable he deleted the phone from "find my iphone"

Deleted the phone. Being able to remote wipe an iPhone is one of the features of FindMy, he probably did that. You do need to reset it using a computer, if he hasn’t removed it from his AppleID correctly you will also need his AppleID credentials to get past activation lock.

If there is nothing important on it just do a DFU restore on it with a computer.

So I was working earlier today and my phone was accidentally entering the passcode while I was walking around with my phone in my pocket, probably from the pressure towards my leg. It must of tried entering the passcode multiple times. I've had this happen before, but I caught it earlier and was able to correctly enter my passcode after a 15 or 30 minute wait. My phone is just stuck on this mode now. Somehow I can still receive calls. Frustrating. If anyone has any suggestions or knows any good software of anything I could do to fix this it would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to have to go drop hundreds of dollars on a phone if I can avoid it.

Unavailable iphone can only be resolved by restoring with itunes. This deletes all data of phone but it will work just log back in icloud and do a restore data if you had one.

Is there really no other way to get out of this, without losing all the data on your phone? I mean when you actually have the correct passcode of course.
