Yep been saying this in some threads. I have stubby thumbs and absolutely love the Plus because I can finally comfortably type on the portrait keyboard. The X will be as wide/narrow as the 4.7, and while the screen is a little taller, you also have to consider some height loss from the strip on top and the little “home” line on the bottom. You’re also losing the rotating lock screen and some of the Plus’s dual pane features in apps. I think a lot of people used to the Plus will handle the X and be disappointed with the real estate TBH. Here's the only issue with that measurement. The notch area occupies he same space the status bar does on traditional iPhones, so effectively that area isn't used by apps on those phones either. A better part to cut out to see any size comparisons would be the area reserved for the home bar More on reddit.com

While it's true that the Plus does have a greater total area of screen real estate, I think that in many circumstances, the X would show you more than the Plus. In most apps, the Plus's extra width isn't really used to show any more information. The extra information is usually shown lengthwise in list form, and since the X is longer than the Plus, I think we'll see it be better for most apps.

For a lot of apps the entire top of the phone (the notch and the screen area on the sides of it) won’t be used for content. My question is, how big is the screen size diagonal (in inches) if that top area is not included?
