I'm planning to upgrade tomorrow night from a plain 6 that I've had since release to an Xs. But I fell in love with the Xs Max when I picked it up. I saw a review that said it's like having a movie theater in your hands and I agree, it's just stunning.
My issue is that it isn't clear to me whether or not the larger one is too impractical given its size. The phone is in my pants front pocket most of the day. (not skinny jeans but not baggy cargo pockets either...) One review that gushed over the max made the case that the Xs is simply more practical on a daily basis, especially for pulling out quickly to take pictures or look something up. I agree but it isn't clear to me how difficult the Max is to handle on a daily basis.
So those of you who have either, are you disappointed that you didn't get the other one? And if so, why? If not, why not?
(Note: I'll be switching AT&T to Verizon at the same time so if Verizon has some kind of deal where I can switch from the larger to smaller phone after a while without paying the whole thing off I'd love to know about it and would probably try the larger one first)

I went from a 7 Plus to a XS, and it’s perfect and the same size almost. I’m glad I didn’t get the Max, because the 7+ was big enough in my hands, with the hard to reach corners.

I went from an X to an XS Max (iUP), and had the same concerns as you. I almost took my max back, but I’m so glad I didn’t. It took a bit to get used to the larger screen, but I haven’t had any issues with the larger size of the phone since. Still fits into pants pockets just fine, it’s really not absurdly bigger than the X. After about 5 days, once my muscle memory adapted, I could use this thing one handed just fine. Keyboard won’t be a problem, it’s reaching up higher to those corners that gets tricky at first as you re-learn how to hold the phone and interact with the screen. Even with a case it’s no big deal, don’t even need reachability. I’m so glad I went with the Max now, plus it’s over 2 hours longer battery life for free. If you’re leaning towards the bigger screen, I’d say your concerns are unfounded. Unless you’re a very small person, I say go for it Edit: worst comes to worst, if you buy the max and don’t like it, you have 14 days on iup to return. Trust me, you’ll know for sure within a week if the Max is right. If not, it’s a simple swap at the Apple store for a regular XS
