October 12, 2025 - After Iranian media reported sounds of explosions in Tehran and stated that the northern city of Babolsar was under attack, Israel acknowledged attacking a radar installation in the vicinity of Tehran in response to Iran's missile launches; Netanyahu's office stated that it was destroyed. Despite its volatile beginnings, the ceasefire ultimately held, partly as a result of Trump's continued intervention with Netanyahu.

July 21, 2025 - Taking the off-ramp that this moment provided, Trump announced on 23 June that the U.S. had (with help from Qatar) secured a ceasefire that would commence in phases over the next twelve hours.

The ceasefire includes a series of pitfalls, mainly the vagueness around its terms and the uncertainty about the status of Iran’s nuclear program after the strikes. In this context, not only Tehran’s calculations are unpredictable, but the Israeli government could easily get back to its desire to enforce a chaotic regime change in Iran or impose a continued military domination, both bearing prospects for further destabilization.

June 24, 2025 - Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect!” Trump said in his Truth Social post. Indeed, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said he held off on tougher strikes against Iran after speaking to Trump. The conflict, now in its 12th day, began with Israel targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites, saying it could not allow Tehran to develop atomic weapons and that it feared the Islamic Republic was close.

June 25, 2025 - Tehran is likely to continue avoiding direct confrontation with the United States, which it views as posing a far greater threat to regime survival. In contrast, it has fewer inhibitions about targeting Israel, even though it sees Israeli and US actions as indistinguishable. This ceasefire buys time, not peace. In this context, Iran is expected to hold tightly to its stockpile of 60 percent highly enriched uranium – not only as leverage in any future nuclear negotiations with the West, but also as a symbol of resilience and continuity for its domestic audience.

2 days ago - The United States intercepted Iranian attacks, and bombed three Iranian nuclear sites on 22 June. Iran retaliated by firing missiles at a US base in Qatar. On 24 June, Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire under US pressure.

Hours later, President Trump announced that Israel and Iran would end hostilities on June 24. After some additional salvos, Israel and Iran indicated intentions to comply with the ceasefire, but reserved the right to defend themselves.

June 24, 2025 - The UN Secretary-General on Tuesday welcomed the ceasefire announcement between Iran and Israel which was announced on social media overnight by US President Donald Trump. Before both sides had confirmed that a ceasefire was in place early Tuesday both sides exchanged fire, with Tehran residents saying they had experienced a heavy barrage of attacks.

June 24, 2025 - Donald Trump has warned Israel against launching further attacks on Iran, hours after he said a ceasefire between the two sides had taken effect. The US president used an expletive as he criticised both sides, after each accused the other of breaking the US and Qatar-brokered truce. It came after Israel said Iran had violated the deal and vowed to respond with "powerful strikes".

June 24, 2025 - The Israeli prime minister’s office released a statement saying that Netanyahu has accepted the ceasefire and will deliver a statement later on Tuesday. The statement added that Israel has achieved “all objectives” of its operation against Iran. “Israel has removed a dual immediate existential threat – both in the nuclear and ballistic missile fields,” the statement said. “In light of the achievement of the operation’s objectives, and in full coordination with President Trump, Israel has agreed to the president’s proposal for a bilateral ceasefire,” it added.

October 7, 2025 - Hamas agreed to a ceasefire with Israel on October 3 but called for negotiating other aspects of President Trump’s plan for peace in Gaza.

June 26, 2025 - The following day, on June 24, a ceasefire was announced between Iran and Israel, with Trump again claiming credit for the truce, just as he did during the flare-up between India and Pakistan in May.

3 weeks ago - “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE… an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World,” he wrote on Truth Social.

June 13, 2025 - A ceasefire agreement was announced on June 24 by Trump, who reported that the agreement included 12 hours of cessation of hostilities by Iran followed by another 12 hours of cessation of hostilities by both Iran and Israel.
