I am 25 and I am ready to leave my dead-end job. I wasted a lot of time when I was younger with YOLO as my excuse and now I am regretting it, I want to start a career. I owe thousands to colleges that I enrolled in but never finished and I do not want to accrue more debt. I also unfortunately do not have the time to do college and I’m looking for something self-paced.
I am liking what I have learned so far from Codecademy and I am considering buying the pro membership in order to fully learn it, and build projects to put on my resume. But would other developers say it's worth it? I'm very serious and focused on learning these skills, but I want to know the best place to learn.
What is Java?
What does Java do?
Are Java and Javascript the same?
This year I decided that I wanted to learn a programming language. I learned HTML coding way back in high school and I really enjoyed it so as I hobby I thought I would learn Java and see where I go with it.
I have been using CodeAcademy and while I have learned some very introductory stuff from it; it seems incredibly trivial. A lot of "put a 7 here", put "True" there. type stuff. Is CodeAcademy a good place to learn in your eyes or are there better places to learn basic Java online?
I've started learning Java with codecademy and making random programs. I want to further my knowledge in java but don't know where to go next. Should I get the pro version of codecademy or is that a waste?
I have a little of knowledge in C and wanted to try Java for a personal project and I tried the Code Academy's introduction to Java. Now I am not a complete beginner in programming so I have no problems with basic concepts like arrays, variables, etc but as soon as I started the course I noticed the programs have some basic structure with classes and other stuff (which I yet don't know what they are) but why don't they explain this to me before introducing variables and other stuff? This is kinda confusing.
Hey everyone,
I'm currently attending a programming-focused high school in Germany. I'm really motivated to improve my coding skills — we're learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and especially Java (which is the most important one for us).
While looking for ways to level up, I came across Codecademy and noticed they offer student discounts. Before I commit, I wanted to ask: would you recommend Codecademy for learning these languages or just for coding in general?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Check out CodingBat! It really helped me learn java way back when (although it used to be JavaBat back then). It's a lot like Codecademy.
Check out javapassion, they have a number of courses that encompass web programming, and were free (until circumstances conspired to make the website need to support itself).
Even with the nominal fee, you get a lot for an entire year. It's a bargain compared to the amount of time you'll be investing.
The other options are to look to Oracle's online tutorials, they lack the glitz of Codeacademy, but are surprisingly good. I haven't read the one on web programming, that might be embedded in the Java EE tutorial(s), which is not tuned for a new beginner to Java.
Hello,
I finished learning the CodeCademy course for Java. Now I'm learning the Pass the Technical Interview with Java to learn about data structures and algorithms. Should I also be creating my own projects and practicing coding challenges on leet code? Should I just start learning spring framework?
I don't know what I need to learn or do to be ready for a job interview. I'm teaching myself all of this so there are a lot of grey areas.
I am learning java from scratch using Codecademy free plan but there option for Projects and Quiz is locked so I am thinking of purchasing the Pro Plan to learn Java to get a job, will it be worth it?
