Really tempted to splurge on this but wondering if it’s really worth the hype. I mostly air dry because lack of time/patience. I’m also concerned with my bleached fine hair looking flat - without blow drying- or when I blow dry looking overly dry and sticking up all day. Any feedback, greatly appreciated!

I absolutely love mine! Before I had it, I couldn't understand how a hair dryer could make any difference. It dries hair, how can it be 100s of pounds?! But then my partner treated me to one and it genuinely does make a difference! You know when you leave the hairdressers after a cut and blow dry and your hair is silky and glossy and smooth? This hair dryer does that, without needing the skilled hand of a hair stylist. I get lots of fly aways and hate them but the Dyson has this amazing attachment that comes with it that smooths them away within seconds. Definitely recommend if you wanted to treat yourself 😊

I was looking to gift the hair dryer for my sister. But I found many hair dryers with similar heat settings and drying functions.

I'm not much into how the hair reacts to heat and the type of airflow the hair needs. So I'm mostly out of my depth here. I tried looking online on how hair dryer affects the hair without much luck. The only thing I found was that high heat was bad for hair proteins.

I'm genuinely curious on a scientific perspective whether it makes a difference or not on what kind of hair dryer you use.

Also I'm posting this here cause no one cared when I posted in other similar subreddits.

I think it’s Ion that does essentially a dupe version — it’s just as quiet and I love it (I have NEVER liked hair dryers), and it was only like $100 at Sally’s. It looks pretty much the same, even fits in a Dyson hair dryer case.

i’ve seen a lot of hype around dyson products, especially the hair dryer. i don’t care much about the air wrap, but are the hair dryers really that good?

i’ve heard a lot of good things about the supersonic but is it really worth HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS?

Unfortunately, yes. After years of burning through dupes, my husband insisted i get the Dyson hairdryer. It’s honestly an incredible product. I love my sad, limp hair for the first time. Doesn’t damage like the dupes and takes so much less time. To me, the reduction in time spent making my hair look reliably good was worth it. I’ve had it since December and used it damn near daily, so we’re on track for excellent cost-per-use.

The hair dryer is definitely worth it. I have curly hair and use a diffuser to style my curls. It DRASTICALLY cut down my drying time, and it's so much comfier to hold. Legit one of the best purchases of my entire life. Being able to dry my hair in 25-35 minutes when it used to be 45-60 was life changing for me. Now I can do my hair in the morning if I really need to, that was never realistic before. And the short barrel, being able to hold it against my head at the back of the barrel (which you can't do with regular hair dryers bc that's where they pull air) make such a difference for my neck/arms/shoulders.

Yes. As someone with very thick hair it used to take 30-40 min to blow dry my hair. And even “high end’ driers would die after about a year of use. I’ve had my Dyson since they first came out. Drying my hair now takes 10-15 min. And the warrantee from Dyson is fantastic - I had an issue after 3 years and my dryer was replaced with very little hassle. The price is the thing keeping you from buying, go to their site and check out their refurbished options.
