I just completed the a Python course on FreeCodeCamp. It was interesting and I claimed the certificate but now I'm wondering if it's worth anything at all to add to my CV or LinkedIn profile.

Dude, you keep asking this question about different certs. Do you want to learn or just have something to put on your résumé? If you put a skill on it, they will ask you about it during an interview and see that you know what you're talking about. HR cares about your history of education and experience, the IT guys you work with don't. What you need to do is find yourself a project to work on just for learning purposes and start learning. And after years of doing so depending on your intelligence and perseverance, you'll have the experience needed to work for a software development company.

It's worth the hundreds of hours of study and practice that it took to achieve. There is no such thing as industry certification within software development (besides a traditional degree), so the certificates of completion themselves won't appear on any job requirement list. The skills required to complete the certificates does align with the requirements for entry level web development jobs.

March 24, 2021 - There are some learning modules to help you learn certain technologies, but they are optional to get your certifications. The estimated time to complete all of these sections was a whopping 1800 hours. Based on my experience, and especially if you are new to coding, that is realistic. Since I have completed FreeCodeCamp, they added 3 new sections for Python/Data Analysis, but I won’t cover those here. TLDR: Now that you have an understanding of the structure and time involved you can skip to: “Was it Worth it?”, if you are not interested in the details of the sections and projects.
