No. There are very few times I would ever get a mod from a third party site, most will just be low quality at best or infested with viruses at worst

I’m a noob to beamng modding and am currently on holiday, though I get back tomorrow after 2 weeks of stalking this Reddit once again addicted to beamng. I keep seeing posts of pics of nice looking irl cars and some of them are from modland but people in the comments hate modland, what is best for irl car mods?

TLDR I want irl car mods so why is modland bad and where else to go?

I think a few folks got viruses. Plus, as another person posted, their mods often contain stolen assets (someone else's hard work).

will your computer get a virus? probably not. will you be completely let down by the quality of the mods? definitely. will people who steal other's hard work and profit off ad revenue make money from you visiting? yes. (presuming you don't have an adblocker)

Ive heard some things about ads leading to viruses but I have an adblocker so I can't see the ads in the first place. I've heard other people say that the only good mods on Modland are ones from repo or the forums but when I want to find a mod of a certain car I always search that up on the forums first and I frequently can't find one on the forums but can find a good mod of it on Modland. I know Modland has a lot of bad mods but it has so many mods that there are a lot of good mods too. I also put each mod I download through a virus checking website thing and I've never had a problem with that either.

a lot of mods on Modland are perfectly safe and not pirated, but there's been a lot of paid mods reposted there for free without permission. Apparently there's been child corn found inside the downloaded zip folders and yes, sometimes the ads are sketchy. You will most likely be fine downloading 80-90% of the mods on Modland, but I personally wouldn't support a platform that has very little moderation when it comes to these things.

Virus CP found in one of the mods downloaded from there (google CP I don't want to be banned from Reddit) There are many unrealistic, outdated, and corrupted mods. Look at me straight in the eyes am tell me that a Stock 2016 Honda Accord V6 can pull a 0-60 in 3 seconds flat.

I've been using mods from only the repository so far. And there are a lot of great mods there. But I've seen quite a few nice looking cars from modland. I have heard modland is less than trustworthy and might spread viruses etc. So what is the consesus on using it? I'm fairly well versed in internet safety and do take precautions but dont want to take unneccesary risks using risky sites.
