OCBASE/OCCT : Free, all-in-one stability, stress test, benchmark and monitoring tool for your PC
The latest dedicated GPUs are exceptionally powerful, yet lack 3D support, rendering the existing stress tests ineffective. OCCT introduces a groundbreaking solution. By leveraging OpenCL workloads, OCCT can now push these high-performance cards to their limits, allowing for parallel testing.

Is stress testing safe?
Prime95 overnight testing is deemed by many to be the only way to test CPU's but when moving up ya OC's in steps, that can lead to a lot of long overnights and leaves a new machine owner waiting days... ... How reliable is OCCT for a stability test?
Games never push your GPU to the same degree OCCT would, but you could still encounter instability issues from time to time. Loads are very different between games - while it would run fine in 9/10 games, the tenth game it starts to crash constantly. More on reddit.com

Is occt feedback really that important or should I use another stress test?
if you crash you're not stable. period. I've had many seemingly good overclocks that passed hours in occt but failed in prime and applications I use. But I haven't seen an overclock that failed occt and passed my compute heavy daily usage (compiling code + various engineering simulations). What I'm aiming at is that OCCT is not that heavy and is only good as a first screening (at least 30 minutes) before you do longer tests in something more sensitive to lack of stability (like prime95 with FFTs in 800-2000 range overnight). OCCT With Four Options - How We Stress Test CPUs
August 16, 2020 - It might not generate the massive amounts of heat we measure under Prime95 with AVX, but it’s still a great choice for long stability tests. The software can log a number of important parameters, running in an endless loop or stopping after a defined length of time. Download OCCT here. This option generates the highest load of the four available options, though it's still less taxing than Prime95 with AVX and Small FFTs. We can say, however, that it is more stressful on memory than Prime95’s.

February 4, 2012 - OCCT is an amazing stress test program. It runs your hardware until it explodes them! I moved away from it the second time it blew my PSU and GPUs with a loud, fiery crack. I decided that two times in a row was not a freak accident. Do a google for XtremeSystems OCCT.

3 weeks ago - Its a stability testing suite as well as a excellent error checking tool that allows for stress testing (like that found in the HWInfo stress test guide) and as an added bonus, error checking within that stress test to ensure that the system/components are stable.

r/overclocking on Reddit: Which stress test to trust more? OCCT or Aida64?
July 11, 2025 -

Doing a 9800x3d OC at the moment. Trying with PBO MB limits, FMAX 200, CO -30, Scalar 10x. I'm wondering which stress test should I trust more for just a gaming and general browsing daily use?

I've set OCCT on multicore, extreme, steady load and notice that it's a test that uses far more power than Aida and maintains higher clocks. So far early 10 min runs have passed

However using AIDA FPU, CPU and Cache test CPU uses far less power yet the test fails almost immediately.

So I'm not really 100% on which one should I trust more.

Why OCCT has changed GPU Stress Testing - OC3D
November 25, 2025 - Traditionally, tools like Furmark were the preferred stress testing tool for graphics cards, but its fixed load approach is no longer well-suited to modern graphics cards. GPUs now have highly variable clock speeds, and they are not always at 100% load. This makes fixed 100% loads like Furmark problematic for stress testing. Too often, overclocked GPUs that are “Furmark stable” can fail under gaming workloads, while idling, or when doing basic tasks like video playback. OCCT’s GPU tests approached GPU stress testing differently.

r/overclocking on Reddit: How reliable is OCCT for a stability test?
February 6, 2025 -

Hello, I have a few questions about OCCT as a stability test. How reliable are these tests? I was testing my GPU overclock using the 3D Adaptive "extreme" test, testing various overclocks. I set +200 on core clock and +1500 on memory clock in MSI Afterburner. Other benchmarks and games were always stable but as soon as I ran the OCCT test it showed me a lot of errors. So I decreased core clock to +150 and left memory clock at +2000 and let it run for another half hour. This time I had no errors. Does this mean that my first overclock despite being stable in games was indeed NOT stable? And does that mean that my second overclock now should be in fact stable as there were no errors?

November 24, 2025 - But this approach no longer reflects real life conditions, because if the GPU is pushed to 100%, then it’s not operating at its max clock speed. A stress test pushing your GPU to 100% might display no error, but you could encounter an error at 50%. For example, comparing OCCT's 3D Adaptive test with a FurMark test on a RTX4070 Ti shows that FurMark locks to max power instantly, while OCCT gradually ramps up.

Whats the most realistic CPU stress test? : r/OCCT
October 30, 2020 - OCCT large tests your whole cpu/chipset/memory components, and as such, is loading your components less individually. Yet, it is much better to find stability issues than small in practice for general purpose testing. Do not lessen a test to the power it draws or to the temperature the cpu reaches - a stability test will indeed reach higher temps than normal apps, but because a stability test reaches higher temps doesn't mean it is better. A good rule of thumb here is to use occt large with the highest avx instruction set your cpu/os supports.
