September 9, 2025 - Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, rejects a two-state solution and implies that Palestine is inseparable, while Iran's former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for a free referendum for the entire Palestinian population, including Arab citizens of Israel, to determine the type of government in the future Palestinian State, while reiterating that establishment of a Palestinian State alongside Israel would "never mean an endorsement of the Israeli occupation".

r/arabs on Reddit: What is Iran's stance on the genocide taking place? Some claim that Iran has sold Palestine to Israel. Could this be true?
November 16, 2023 - Iran is obviously opposed to the genocide against Palestinians, but Iran's dedication to Palestinians as people depends on how you view · Hamas and Hamas' ability to act in the interests of Palestinians. Iran has historically funded and supported Hamas to act as a proxy and bulwark against the Zionist state.

Opinion of Iranians in Iran about Israel

I believe most people in Iran aren't too concerned or care about the conflict in that region due to the regime pushing it downs peoples throats for so long. Just like Islam, the more you try to push it down people's throats the more they hate it. So considering the regime is always supporting palestine and Hamas it's normal for people in Iran to be on Israel's side.

But all I can say is people in Israel have supported us but most Palestinians don't support us and the revolution.

I don't get Iranians that are pro-Palestinian.

Because I believe that people have a right to self-determination and, alongside international law, not be subject to illegal settlements and occupation. This isn't a football game where the side is either Israel or Palestine, there's always nuance.

I can also be against Hamas. I'm not sure, again, why we have to be attacked for being sympathetic to the Palestinian cause.

August 22, 2025 - Since the 1979 Revolution, despite exaggerated discursive aggression, Iran has hesitated to engage with Israel directly. Palestine has rarely been a central agenda item of Iran's foreign policy due to both a steadfast Iran-first policy and to the country's lack of conventional political and military capacity to resolve the conflict in the way it promises in its propaganda.

3 weeks ago - The collapse of the Ottoman Empire resulted in the rise of new nation-states, which at first were governed by the European powers that had defeated the Ottomans in World War I. Among the most consequential legacies of the transitional period was the British mandate of Palestine, which oversaw the large-scale immigration of Jews to Palestine in fulfillment of the Balfour Declaration (1917)—despite the objections raised by the Arab inhabitants there, who believed that they too were promised self-determination in the Hussein-McMahon correspondence (1915–16). The result was a lasting Israeli-Palestinian conflict and frequent war between Israel and its Arab neighbors (see Arab-Israeli wars).
