At my shop/office, we put wood look tile in our showroom. I wanted something that would hold up to dirty boots, sliding chairs, deliveries, and general hard use while being easy to clean. Tile. When people say LVP is waterproof, they mean the material itself, they do not mean that the floor is impervious to water. The only way I'd ever put LVP in a bathroom is if the subfloor is concrete, and even then I'd still prefer tile. And you're in an apartment, so it's especially important to have an impervious floor. Porcelain is ceramic. What you want to avoid is porous tiles. Most glazed tiles are suitable for wet areas. More glossy is slippery but that can happen with porcelain, also. Standard wall tile is a bisque body -porous- but is glazed before firing so fine for wet areas. Modern tile bodies are less porous probably, but unless you’re installing outside, no worries. Proper porcelain -and there is improper porcelain- is very low porosity. The body material is fired at a very high heat so it fuses into a glass like state, so suitable for exterior use. There are a number of attractive properties to porcelain; glazed or unglazed, cleft or rough face, matte face, or glossy like marble. It’s also as tough a nails, as in being less vulnerable to scratching. But lower fired, glazed products can look great, too. And unglazed quarry tile has its applications. Cons: Very slippery on floors when wet or feet /shoes are wet. Some might say "easy to clean". HOWEVER, you will literally see every streak and footprint. If you have OCD this is not for you. Any scratches or chips will be very noticeable. Reflects natural and synthetic light differently, sometimes can be blinding. I always recommend polish on walls (showers washrooms etc) And same tile but matte on the floors What I always tell people is take samples home, lay on floor and leave there for a couple days, the flooring changes at different times of day pending natural light coming in through windows, when the sun is set etc. Side tip: do not go with white grout, off white or grey is the way to go. The grout will eventually discolor. If you go white make sure grout is sealed after install (some people mix sealer in grout mix, pros and cons to this) Good luck! More on reddit.com
