I recently bought what I qualify as "medium" quality earbuds for around 70 bucks, they sound pretty good, better than any headphone I've had in the past.
I care about the quality of the music I listen to, but I simply cannot afford anything above the buds I bought, for now. So, searching around I found out about TIDAL and it's premise of high fidelity music. So my question is: is it worth to pay a TIDAL ubscription if I'm using medium quality earbuds and Bluetooth?
My brother and sister recently each purchased a pair of Sennheiser Momentum Headphones (apparently they found a good deal in Amazon) and are interested in using Tidal HiFi over Bluetooth because they have a Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S20+, so no headphone jack. They'll acquire some dongles eventually, but in the meantime... Would they hear significant sound quality to justify Tidal HiFi? Or would they better stick with Premium until the dongle arrives?
Thanks in advance!!
I use an iPhone with the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless headphones. Surprised by the responses — yes, it’s absolutely worth it! There is a big difference when I listen to something back to back on Spotify vs Tidal HiFi over Bluetooth. A separate DAC is not a requirement
In my experience a 1411kbps FLAC compressed on the fly via bluetooh to 320kbps AAC sounds better with higher frequency response and deeper bass than a native compressed 320kbps transferred via bluetooth, so you could go for tidal hifi anyway
I'm new to Tidal and am using the HiFi Plus plan. However, I listen via Bluetooth, connected to my phone which then plays through a speaker.
I know that audio is compressed when using Bluetooth, but does this mean such a significant loss in quality that it becomes equivalent to the quality of Spotify?
I would like to know this point, so as not to use Tidal in a 'placebo mode', thinking that I am listening to superior quality, but in reality, it's the same thing.
Below are the phone and speaker I use:
PHONE: UMIDIGI A11
Processor: 4x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 + 4x 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53

I know that one of the things Tidal has going for it when compared to Spotify and Apple Music is the bitrate and overall quality of the music file being played. My question is, if I exclusively listen to music from my iPhone using a Bluetooth connection (either via Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth adapter in car), does that quality difference actually make a difference? I wasn’t sure if the quality loss due to compression over Bluetooth negates any improvements.
Basically I use Sony 30-40 quid earphones with Spotify and wanted to upgrade my setup for when I'm walking or around the house. I'm going to get Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 headphones because I've tried them and they sound really good especially for bass and have got a free month trial of Tidal which im using currently (i can hear the difference on some bits i compared).
I have no knowledge really of audio quality but I feel like using bluetooth headphones no matter how good is gonna compress the audio anyway so should i just use Spotify? And also I don't care if i wont tell the difference 99% of the time because even if its 1% better I'm gonna use it since I don't mind the interface and like the features but if its exactly the same then I wont bother and will go back to Spotify. Or if connecting the headphones via the lightning cable (if I can) is better than bluetooth? I honestly have no clue and am struggling to find info on this. Thanks.
Hello everyone. I recently subscribed to Tidal due to having a verified Student account. The thing is that I use a lot of what are Bluetooth headphones, being more precise, some JBL 520BT. My question is, am I really getting the most out of the music on Tidal using Bluetooth headphones? Or should I switch to another service?
If so how many bits and khz?
See the above. If I am mostly using ANC Bluetooth cans, maybe throwing them on wired (Px8, Dali iO-12, 5909 etc) am I really getting a huge advantage with Tidal HiFi Plus over Apple Music Lossless or anything else or am I throwing away money?
Hello fellow music enjoyers!
I have been struggling for a while to figure out what music service fits me best..
I spend most of my day with music almost no matter what i do, so i for that reason would want the most enjoyable experience possible :)
Here's how Tidal comes in.
I absolutely love the app, the UI and its tempting me alot.
But as I've been reading through some threads before that its not worth it without the proper equipment i thought i would make a post to make sure..
Is it waste if i only use some low end JBL bluetooth in-ear earphones? more specific: JBL Wave Buds
Also the phone i mainly use to listen via have Dolby Atmos which it shows a mark for some songs, what does that mean?
So I recently moved from spotify to tidal because I want the best possible sound I can get. But I've seen old posts saying that Bluetooth earphones are unable to achieve the best possible sound available. But when using my sennheiser mtw 3's the streaming quality for songs is Max. So am I truly recieving max quality sound?
Thank you.
Hey guys I have a note 10 plus and sennheiser momentum ear buds which I use when driving and working out, I'm still on a free trial of Tidal seeing how it goes but I was wondering is there still a difference between Spotify and Tidal using Bluetooth? They support AAC and aptX
Huge difference IMHO; but Spotify sounds awful to me on just about anything. The Sennheiser MTW is the best true wireless I've heard. Why waste that potential on lossy compression twice? Tidal HiFi is the way to go.
Driving while golfing, or driving your car? One kills and the other just makes you bad at golf.
My friend recommended Tidal because they said that the sound quality is good, but I usually just listen to music on my phone or laptop. I do have earphones but they are medium quality at best. Is it still worth getting Tidal?
