r/ApplyingToCollege on Reddit: US News is too relied-on as a source for rankings
April 11, 2024 -

Before Columbia dropped to 12 and was ranked 2, it was almost always ranked within the Top 6 and consistently above UPenn especially on the subreddit. Before Chicago dropped around 6 spots, it was also ranked just below HYPSM but now it is getting put below Northwestern pretty consistently. Berkeley and UCLA weren't even considered T20's by most until the methodology change this year. Point is the US News rankings change way too drastically and and currently favor publics too much to be a source that a lot of you guys treat like the bible. Do your own research on schools and find schools that fit you.
