Planning on going to Universal tomorrow with 4 young children (ages 4-7.) Are the express passes worth it? Or do you think the lines won’t be too crazy tomorrow (November 11.) thanks!

I used to buy normal admission until one day I visited the park later in the afternoon. A couple was leaving the park and stopped me and my girl and asked us if we wanted their express unlimited lanyards. Of course we said yes. After experiencing that day at the park I vowed to never go again without buying express passes. It can completely change your experience. Some rides like Studio Tour, Jurassic World, The Mummy, Harry Potter. The express pass can be the difference between 120min standing in line, or walking straight past hundreds of people right to the front. Sure there are probably exceptions. I’m sure season pass holders that visit more frequently have experienced days where the lines are just short or the occupancy is lower. But if you’re someone like me who visits maybe once a year, and fly there from outside Los Angeles or even out of state, I don’t think it’s worth chancing it. Standing in line for hours personally just bums me out, and in poor weather conditions, hot or cold, can drain me of my energy. I think Universal Express pass might currently be the most efficient fast pass of any theme park. It can be purchased as a version of the admission ticket, not separately from a 3rd party like Six Flags. Disney Genie plus was terrible, forcing you to be on your phone all day strategically trying to reserve rides and fill in the time between. Universal Express is simple and effective. You buy it, you use the Express lanes and go to the front. In conclusion, I say it’s worth every penny.

Hi!

We are planning on visiting Friday, October 13th. This is my best friend’s first time visiting, so I’d like us to be able to do and see as much as possible. We will only be there for one day and planned on purchasing the park-to-park admission with an express pass. I understand the express pass is a luxury, but I personally can’t justify spending more on that than the actual ticket. Do you think we can complete both parks without the pass? I believe the park closes early due to HHN as well.

Thanks in advance!

April 19, 2024 -

My girlfriend and I are going to universal Orlando next week Tuesday-Wednesday. It’s her first time ever and my first time in 15 years. I’ve read that around that time is usually not very busy because kids back to school and weather sucks, so as of now we are planning to stay on-site at a value resort for the night. The thing is it’s only gonna end up costing me an extra 400$ to get a premier room which would give us express pass for both days. I don’t want us to feel rushed since we’re only there for 2 days, is it worth the extra 400 to upgrade and get the passes?

Edit: Thanks for the responses everyone, they were all very helpful. We decided to upgrade to royal pacific for the night, super excited!

Hi, my wife and I will be in Orlando during the second week of December and are considering whether it’s worth purchasing Express Passes for Universal Studios Orlando - Islands of Adventure. We’re planning to visit on a weekday, not the weekend. Do you think the $120+ per person cost is justified?

None of us can answer that for you. It cuts the wait times down by a lot. Nobody here knows your financial situation or how much time you want to spend in the park or how you prefer to spend your time. Look at all the rides you want to do, when you plan to arrive and leave, and how much the passes will cost…and think to yourself if it’s worth that cost for cutting 50-80% off the wait times.

I can’t quite tell if you are saying that you’re visiting the park for a week of weekdays or just one weekday while you’re in Orlando. If you’re staying for the week,In my opinion, no. I stayed the second week of November 2023 Saturday thru Thursday - 5 days 2 parks. We actually went to the park the day we arrived so it was more like 4 1/3 days (flight was delayed) and we had enough time to do everything we wanted at least twice over, if not more. We were almost “bored” by the last night and ended up just wandering the parks and enjoying the lights and scenery. We also spent a half a day exploring some of the hotels and taking the water taxi or walking paths, and spending some time at the pool. We did utilize Early Park Access 4 of the days. We did wait in lines most days, the worst being Hagrids. But that was about 90 min and you can’t use the Express Pass anyway. We also did not, of course, have Epic Universe to consider. If you’re visiting both parks just that one day, I would would go ahead and purchase it - it doesn’t leave a lot of time for leisure or re-riding your favorites if you’re in line half of the day or trying to play strategy. Even if you visit and have low wait times, I’d rather have the back up. Obviously, your milage may vary but if I were in your shoes that is what I would do

We are going to universal the first week of November. My first question is, are the fast passes worth it? Are the wait times still just as long with the fast passes? I assume it will still be super busy since we will be there during HHN. I really want to do all the Harry Potter stuff, so should we hit that as soon as the park opens? I haven’t been to Universal since I was around 10. Now I’m 33 and we are taking our 12 year old and a 1 year old. Obviously 1 year old won’t be able to ride anything so grandma is coming with us and we will alternate. Super excited to go and I think we may do 1 night of HHN. We are taking our son to a haunted house before we go to be sure he’s up for it. He’s super pumped as well!

Edit: has anyone paid extra for the VIP experience? Was it worth it? Or should we just do the fast passes and not pay extra for the vip experience?

Hi guys!

My boyfriend and I are celebrating our 6 year anniversary and are looking into booking a last minute trip to Universal Studios Hollywood. We're coming in from Toronto, Canada.

We are planning on going in 2 weeks (Jan 21 + Jan 22). We're thinking of buying a 2 day admission ticket as well as an express pass. Do you think the express pass is worth it? I don't know how busy it is around this time (after the holidays). We will be going on a weekday. If we get the express ticket, do we even need a second day at Universal? Let me know your thoughts!

Oh also, if you have any suggestions of where we can stay (hotel wise) that's nearby or a cheap Uber ride away that would be great.

My husband and I planned a trip to Universal Orlando 3 parks. I am wondering if its worth it to get the unlimited express ride passes, its almost 1800.00 for all 5 of us for 2 days for just the express passes. I started looking around and can get Discovery Cove passes and all of us can swim with Dolphins,go snorkeling food and beverages are included for the day plus so much more for the same price. I want to know if express passes are really worth it our trip is planned 9/18 - 9/25. We have our Universal tickets for Tues, Weds,Thurs

Thanks for any advice

I'm going in late January, and I'm spending a day by myself, and a day with family at the park. I'm a coaster enthusiast, and was wondering if the express pass unlimited was worth it? What kind of time do you save, especially on like velocicoaster?

I'd never go to universal without express. That being said for 2+ people it's almost always cheaper to stay at a premier resort for 1 night to get 2 days of express pass included. So get the calculator out.

Orlando Informer provides a in depth blog all about Express Pass . There is also a link in the side bar, but we know getting there from mobile can be a pain, so here is a convenient link for you! In short summary, there are two types of EP. Basic EP and Unlimited EP. Basic lets you into the EP line once, per ride, per day. Unlimited is exactly that. Express Pass is an add on to an entry ticket. You cannot get into the park with only an EP. If you stay at one of these hotels: Royal Pacific, Hard Rock, and Portofino Bay, you receive Unlimited EP as a perk of staying at the hotel. This includes the day you check in and the day you check out. Meaning, if you stay one night, you receive two days of EP. You cannot share an EP. Many of the rides at USF have engaged a bio-metric system that uses a type of facial recognition to verify pass holders. You do not have to purchase EP to enjoy the parks. You can wait until you're inside the parks to determine if EP is needed for you and purchase them at kiosks inside the parks. You do NOT have to stand in the long lines at the front of the parks to buy Express add on Prices increase as there is more demand. Optioning to purchase Express Pass may be cheaper the earlier you can purchase as prices will increase as does demand There are several kiosks inside each park and they generally have very small to no lines, at all. You can also ask about discounted prices after specific times of the day (such as a discount after 4pm) Not every ride or attraction has a EP lane (ahem, HAGRIDS and VELOCICOASTER), but most do. r/universalstudios on Reddit: Is unlimited express pass worth it?

Going to universal studios hollywood in a week and I already bought our express tickets. I just learned that there is an unlimited express that lets you skip the line/go to the shorter line as many times as you want for each ride vs the regular express tickets that only lets you do it once for each ride. What I’m asking is, are there many (if any) rides that are so cool/fun that you’d want to ride it more than once, making it worth it for me to upgrade to the unlimited express? I’m a first timer. Realistically, I don’t see my husband & I wanting to ride a ride more than once but again I’ve never been so I’m not sure how dope the rides are to even know if we’d want to do it more than once. It’s only $40 each person to upgrade, but if the rides aren’t worthy of going on more than once then it’s not necessary to spend the extra 80 bucks. Thanks in advance!

Making a trip out in Orlando, Florida with a good friend of mine.

We plan on going to Universal Studios and Island Adventures in 1 day for the main attractions (roller coasters).

The day we plan on going is on Friday, November 11th.

This would be my first time attending in over a decade so this process is a blur to me and I’m certain there has been changes. We want to avoid waiting in lines throughout the day and just move through both parks in a efficient manner.

My question is are lines long during this time of year and is the fast pass/express pass worth it if it’s just 2 people?

I know down here in Texas we have Six Flags and they offer lines for single riders. Has anyone found this a better option than buying a fast/express pass?

Any insight is appreciated.

My partner and I are going to Universal Studios on the 5th Jan 2024. I’ve already bought the entry ticket and was keen for the express pass however it’s going to cost $560 aus for the two of us. Is it actually worth it and will it be really busy on the 5th Jan? Just seems like a huge amount of money on tickets that could be spent elsewhere but we also don’t want to line up for hours and hours if it will be really busy that time of year.

Hello, folks!
Me, my partner and two friends are going to Japan this November and we bought our tickets to the Universal Studios Japan park at November 11th, a Monday. We are really excited for it and started searching about it and saw many recommendations to get the Express Pass tickets to avoid wasting too much time in lines.
But the price is pretty high, almost double the entry ticket, do you think it is worth considering we're going on a Monday? Or should we expect it to be packed and as such it is essential for having a nice experience?
