Vertical integration and consolidation like this tends to be anticompetitive and not serve the consumer. This is why regulatory bodies within a capitalist economic system are necessary, because capitalism can go from serving consumers to serving a oligarchical economic elite class really quickly. How many actual people control the mass media we consume? How many people sit in the senior positions on boards or own controlling shares of stock? A thousand? A hundred? More on reddit.com

Things currently co-owned by Paramount and Warner that could soon be fully owned by Paramount
You missed perhaps the biggest franchise IMO: Friday the 13th woudl finally be under one roof, as Paramount had the rights to the first 8 films, while New Line Cinema had the rights to Jason and movies 9, 10, and Freddy vs Jason. The only thing that woudl hold back the series now woudl be the fact that Victor Miller got the rights back for the first movie, so the name and elements like Young Jason, Crystal Lake, and Jason's mom couldnt be used. Warner Bros fight heats up with $108 billion hostile bid from Paramount | Reuters
4 days ago - Paramount's bid includes Warner Bros Discovery's cable television properties; Netflix's bid is limited to the Warner Bros film and television studios, HBO and the HBO Max streaming service. Analysts noted that Paramount's offer comes with its own antitrust scrutiny as a consolidation of two major television operators. Last month, Democratic senators warned that such a transaction would result in "one company controlling almost everything Americans watch on TV." The combined studio would also have a greater market share than current leader Disney (DIS.N), opens new tab, and add to fears of consolidation that have hit the industry in recent years.

Just two weeks ago, on a podcast, Mr. Cameron was asked if he believed Mr. Sarandos would stick to his promise that if Netflix acquired Warner Bros., the streamer would continue to release the studio’s films in theaters.

What Netflix Buying Warner Bros. Means for WB Theme Parks
2 weeks ago - In addition to its valuable library of titles and intellectual property (including DC Studios and Harry Potter), the storied studio does operate some live experiences, such as its studio tours in Burbank, London, and Tokyo, plus a handful of flagship retail stores around the world. But its actual theme-park business, the area with a real upside for Netflix, remains somewhat limited. Crucially, unlike Disney or Comcast, Warner Bros. does not currently possess a substantial footprint of parks it actually owns.
