Advice on the free wix website
The difficulty with websites is traffic. It doesn’t matter much where the site is hosted if no-one visits it. If you won’t be selling anyway, would you consider just hosting your poetry on a social platform where it is easier shared and liked? Assuming that is how you will gain traffic in the first place? In my experience, a website adds and extra layer to the user experience. For example, if my wife should share one of your poems she sees on Facebook or Pinterest or wherever, I would have to click to go access it whereas if it is hosted on the platform, I can just read it and like, comment, share, whatever… More on reddit.com

Also, there's a banner, something like "you too can make a free website" that gets served on the free site. Then upgrade your wix account to paid, get your domain, and hook it all up. Totally new to website creation. I’d like to see if I can create a business website on my own that I can deem good enough to tolerate. If I do, is there a way to create a domain name after the fact and then make the previously-created website go “live”, or something similar?

I am doing something similar. I am working on the free wix domain, and plan to upgrade and transfer to another site/domain name. Question: Once I pay my fee, upgrade, and transfer, will I still be able to make changes and edit the website using the easy-to-use WIX editing system? Or would I be stuck using a different editor? (I had initially tried using WordPress and Elementor but found WIX so much easier)
